DOES THE CONTEMPORARY MUSIC BEING PLAYED ON TODAYS RADIO STATIONS MINISTER TO YOU LIKE TRADITIONAL GOSPEL MUSIC DID.

WE HAVE FRIENDS IN THIS INDUSTRY WHO ARE POWERFUL IN DELIVERING THEIR SONGS DURING THEIR MINISTRY BUT DOES CONTEMPORARY GOSPEL HAVE THE SAME RELEVANCY AS THAT TRADITIONAL AND QUARTET SOUND?

Great question. As a radio station owner,(WPJC.FM) I believe you must take some responsibility for what you play and seek the Holy Spirit's guidance. We take a lot of time with selecting our playlist, largely because we are not an entertainment station, but a ministry. We don't always play what is popular, but we are more concerned with the message and how it is conveyed. Essentially, does it draw you or bind you closer to the Lord? After hearing the song, who are you focused on? Hopefully it's Christ.

Certainly, after hearing one traditional song or quartet sound, and you have just heard one song or sound. In-other-words, they are not equal. But I would say that with the traditional or quartet sound, it seems that the message and the focus is less likely to get lost than with some of the contemporary music/songs of today. The industry is cleaver as to how they can water down Christ and the Good News message in the music. You must be careful!!!

My heart is with traditional and the quartet sound, but we do mix it up and it seems to be well received. We feature a quartet experience several hours/wk and beginning in October, we will do the same with a traditional experience. We feel strongly that the legacy of both the traditional and quartet sound must be preserved and passed on.

If you're looking to draw closer to the Lord, listen to WPJC.FM During the day we play gospel worship music 12am-7pm, gospel jazz 7pm-12am and the best in quartet Saturday and Sundays from 2pm-4pm. Drop us a line, join our free membership and let us know what you think.

In Him,
Dr. Tracy Scott
