I have a 9 year old son at home, and loads of kids in and out of my home.At mealtime my kid's know they have to thank god for three things before they eat. They NEVER just say three things so I don't make em wait for each other to finish praying because my attention seekers will get real thankfull for everything they can think of!I just let them start blurting it all out and It sounds like an Apostolic prayer meet at dinner time here and I love it.At night My son and I hold each other.Kinda like a hug.We often have children at nite and they have all learned the huddle.I pray or my son prays. These times are precious to me and so I got to wondering,Whats prayer like at yall's houses?

This post makes me consider that I have stifled my son's participation in the family prayer life. I was leading the family devotions, and I prayed the blessing over meals, exclusively. Your beautiful experiences helped me realize that I need to give him space to lead at home. He's eleven, and has led prayers at cub scout meetings and Sunday School classes, so he knows how to do.
I read this early this morning but could not find the right words to reply. We don't have the option of his Daddy leading us in prayer because he has not yet given his life to Jesus.Every nite we pray for Joe to come to the Lord.I guess we are kinda all over the place with prayer time but, well,in church you learn by watching and doing with your church family. But at home,I guess we have just learned to wing it.I never stopped to think why I was curious how others prayed at home untill I read your reply and realized it was because I have never experienced prayer at home .So,maybe that is why supper prayer is like prayer time at church and bedtime prayer resembles our time in the alter. So to us,what you do is the "Beautifull experience"that we pray for every day.
