Reality-Changing Prayers

I've been wrestling with another passage of scripture lately:

Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye
may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth
much. Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed
earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the
space of three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven
gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit. [James 5:16-18]

To what extent, if any, can the prayers of a person full of faith change
the physical realities around him or her? Is this what Elijah did, and
can we be modern-day Elijahs?

One thing, the word of God says, where there are two or more gather in my name, He's in the mist. Matthew 18:20. Also I believe this is a healing mechanism for the brother or sister. When you confess your faults I would go as far as to say, confess your faults only to those who are spiritually matured in Christ. When you do, you actually shame the devil with whatever you being tormented with.

The Word also states, live and death are in the power of the tongues. Proverbs 18:21

Prayer is our communication with God. If you have someone who can stand in the gap for you if you're in a need, I believe God honors that.

The Word also says, if you see a brother in a need and reach not out to help him, how can the love of God dwell in you? I John 3:17
