Once again, I urge everyone to read this book of "ABSTINENCE TO WINE" to believing Christians so that God will open your spiritual eyes to recognize the TRUTH that sets free. It's titled: Can I Take A Little Wine? Follow this link to get your copy now!

Lev.10:8-9
8 Then the Lord said to Aaron, 9 “You and your descendants must never drink wine or any other alcoholic drink before going into the Tabernacle. If you do, you will die. This is a permanent law for you, and it must be observed from generation to generation.

there are a lot of levitical laws in the book of leviticus. Should we follow them all, or just those that we personally feel convicted of??? But I do agree that drinking and comsuming alcoholic beverages if one is not careful can lead to out of control behavior that can lead to sin..
The first known miracle of Jesus was to turn water into wine for a ceremony. We use wine for holy communion. I see nothing wrong with wine UNLESS YOUR INTENDED USE is to become a lush.
Hey EW, funny you said that wine is used in the Holy communion. When I was in Papua New Guinea to speak at this church all the way near the equator. They had communion service where they used real wine. I was amazed that they used real wine. Isn't that how it should be? They didn't have a separate line for those they believed struggled with alcoholism or had any other substance abuse issues. Am I in sin for having a glass of red wine with my wife, but never getting drunk? Is that found to be a sin in the Bible? I personally in no way am convicted with having some wine with my wife on special occasions. However I will never consume any alcoholic beverages in the company of someone who may have issues with alcohol abuses so they do not stumble.
That is the same view we hold. My husband and I will have a glass of Manishevitz with Bruschetta Bread & olive oil or we'll have it with dinner every so often. We too will not have wine in the presence of others as many do not understand.

Regardless to the number of scriptures to support the drinking of wine, (not in excess) many preach that it is sin. I guess that makes Jesus a sinner for making wine and drinking it, huh? LOL.
I agree that if both are not weak in that area, a couple can share that! On special occasions my husband and I do as well. But never in front of others.

My thing about communion services is that when actual wine is served if one has a weakness of that sorts it could be a trigger for them. For that reason I think the "fruit of the vine" is sufficient.
There is a saying: *Dont be holier than God*

If they drank wine at the wedding and God provided the wine - why must we put more things on us than is necessary.
Do all things in moderation.
newview, is moderation in the mouth of the partaker? just asking?
I dont know what you mean but I will take a stab at it...

If there is someone that cannot handle the liquor in the wine - then by all means - stay away from it.

But I think its not right to tell the saints that they are NOT to drink wine - when the holy apostles drank it at the last supper.

I too think the fruit of the vine would probably be sufficient for some.
You understood correctly and I do agree that whomever? should not put one under a law that God has not given.

However, the word states that man should be of "sober" mind, in control of himself so what might be a moderate consumption to one is different to another, and this is where I think we should be very careful of our witness in front of others, laying no stumbling block before them.

Be Blessed
