"For the record, I believe that all sin should be addressed according as the word of God speaks. We must preach according to God’s words and not our own. Lying, homosexuality, fornication, adultery, extortion, etc… should all be spoken against because God hates all sin."
I agree, but should we go a step further and pass laws to prevent these sins like it was done for homosexual unions, especially if they jeopardize the institution of marriage?
Fornication, adultery, divorce, and remarriage after divorce are all sins, which in some form threaten the institution of marriage, not to mention against the Will of God, and yet they are now practiced legally in this country.
"I don't believe any law of the land that completely goes against God's law should ever be passed."
Yes, but try telling that to the millions of aborted fetuses and those who supported passing the law to do so.
I find it interesting that many of the same people who support women's rights to murder their babies, are the same people who won't support Gays the right to marry. They are supporting one sin, but not the other. The Bible refer to such people as being double-minded.
"We must draw the line somewhere and when we seek rights for things that go against God's commandments then we seek to go to hell. What if adulterers start petitioning for rights to be with someone else's husband and wanting legal rights to do so."
TOO LATE. That line has already been crossed. It is called remarrying after divorce. According to Jesus Christ, "Whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery." If you marry a divorced man, then according to Jesus, you ARE with someone else's husband, and the State have given you the right to do so.
"I don't see fornicators flooding the courts trying to get laws passed saying that what they do is morally excepted. They just do their thing."
And they do it against Jesus' commandment.
1 Thessalonians 4:1-3
1 Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more.
2 For ye know what commandments we gave you by the Lord Jesus.
3 For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:
"Homosexuals seem to be the only ones that are trying to force others to legally, verbally and morally except their behavior which is totally against God."
I believe those who support abortion would beg to differ.
At any rate, take away divorcées' rights to remarry; take away two consenting adults' rights to have sex outside of marriage; or take away women's rights to have an abortion and see who will be flooding the courts.
The only reason most of these people don't flood the courts is because their sins, for the most part, has already been "legally, verbally and morally" accepted by this society.
"The bible does give provisions for divorce when one mate has stepped out on the other or if the person was saved and the other a non-believer."
The provisions given for divorce were written in Matthew. There were no provisions given for divorce in neither Luke nor Mark. There were no provisions for remarriage after divorce. And since the provisions for divorce written about in Matthew were not found in older manuscripts, it has been suggested that those provisions were later added.
And as far as the provisions for divorce concerning a saved person and a non-believer, that was only Paul's opinion, not a commandment of the Lord.
