FORGIVE, FOR THE TRUTH SHALL SET YOU FREE

John 8:32 (New King James Version)

"And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."

Psalm 26:6-7 (New Living Translation)

6 "I wash my hands to declare my innocence. I come to your altar, O Lord,"

7 "singing a song of thanksgiving and telling of all your wonders."

Hebrews 4:16 (New Living Translation)

"So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most."

Psalm 51:6 (Amplified Bible)

"Behold, You desire truth in the inner being; make me therefore to know wisdom in my inmost heart."

Each morning we need to come clean with God. If there is anything between us and God, when we try to pray and get into His presence, it will bother us until we deal honestly with it. God wants us to confess our faults and to confess our sins. We as humans, when dealing with our own flesh don’t really like to confront wrongdoing as we should.

Many of us like to make excuses for our faults, but it is those excuses that keep us deceived. An excuse can be defined as a reason stuffed with a lie. We can’t continue to move forward in our lives if we keep making excuses for some of the things we do in life. The Bible says that the truth will set us free (John 8:32). Honesty with God will free us to enjoy not only our day but our whole lives.

We all fall short from time to time even when we have the best intentions to do good. God tells us in his word to receive, not strive to get, but just to receive new mercy and forgiveness for each day. However, people often beg God for forgiveness. But while begging for that forgiveness they forget to say, "I receive that forgiveness right now; I believe I am forgiven." Mercy is a free gift. You can’t earn it, you can’t deserve it and you can’t buy it. The only thing you can do is receive it. So just humble yourself, and accept God’s forgiveness.

Similarly, if you aren’t living the way God has instructed you to live, you may be miserable until you confess your sins. It is then once you thoroughly get everything out in the open before the Lord, He gives you the power to be set free from your sins: "Blessed is he whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered" (Psalm 32:1, NIV). The Word says that God desires truth in our inner being (see Psalm 51:6). So we need to be honest with ourselves and with God, if we want to enjoy the blessing of God’s forgiveness. Ask God to show you want needs to be changed in your life today, and trust His forgiving power to continually bring about those changes in you. Forgive yourself today, for the truth shall set you free!
