What does prosperity mean to the Body of Christ.  Does it has any place in teaching, is it

for the body, should it be taught or should it be ignored.  What is biblical prosperity?

What does the bible has to say about this topic?

Let's read what God's word has to say about it;

Deut.29
[9] Keep therefore the words of this covenant, and do them, that ye may prosper in all that ye do.

Josh.1
[8] This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

Job 36
[11] If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures.

Pss.122
[6] Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee.

And how do we show our love for God?

Deut.7
[9] Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;

John 14
[15] If ye love me, keep my commandments.

John 15
[10] If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.

1 John 2
[3] And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.

[4] He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

1 John 5
[2] By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.

[3] For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

2 John 1
[6] And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it.

So the OT AND the NT both say to keep God commandments and He will have you to prosper.

Now what about those that claim God's commandments have been nailed to His cross that are still being prosperous?

Who is blessing them?

Their blessings can't be coming from God because God said to keep His laws and He would ensure their prosperity. How can someone teach God's laws were done away with and still expect to receive blessing from the Lord?

Paul tell us to beware of those that desire to be as him and the other apostles but are in fact deceitful workers;

2 Cor.11
[10] As the truth of Christ is in me, no man shall stop me of this boasting in the regions of Achaia.
[11] Wherefore? because I love you not? God knoweth.

Paul says no one will stop him from boasting about his love for those living near Achaia. God know he loves them.

[12] But what I do, that I will do, that I may cut off occasion from them which desire occasion; that wherein they glory, they may be found even as we.

But what he does, he does it so that he can stop those that want to appear glorified. Paul does not want them to be associated with him and the true apostles.

[13] For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.

For there are many false apostles that appear as apostles of Christ.

[14] And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.

And should we be surprised. Did not Satan turn himself into an angel of light? When? When He told Eve she would not surly die! And each time there after!

[15] Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.

So it should be as no surprise that his ministers should appear as ministers of righteouness also.

And do you not think Satan blesses his ministers? Of course!

So is prosperity taught in God's holy word? Yes!

But it is taught with the condition that we are keeping His commandments!

If you are NOT obeying God and keeping His commandments and are STILL being blessed......maybe you should think about what 'minister' you are following!

Let's read again the fate of those "transformed as the ministers of righteousness";

"...whose end shall be according to their works."

And what will be Jesus reply to those that followed such "ministers"? Let's read it;

"...And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity...."

Let's read what we should seek and be content with, according to God's word;

1 Tim.6
[7] For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.
[8] And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.

God says we should be content with just food and clothes. Anything else He gives us is truly a blessing.

So should we seek after riches? Let's read what could happen;

[9] But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.
[10] For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

So what is worth more, eternal life with Christ, or riches here on earth that will last but a moment?

[11] But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.

God says we should not only not seek after these things, but we should FLEE from them!

So is prosperity taught in the bible? Yes it is!

But it is a far cry from what is being preached in most churches of today!

Greetings Eccl 12:13

I tatally agree that prosperity is not being taught right in the body of Christ.

There are some teaching the topic right and the local body is blessed becase of
sound teaching.

Likewise there are some who would take advantage of there local assembly by
teaching a misleading Word that only benefits the pastor.

In Christ

The only propserity God prmises is salvation to all whom he has chosen this slavatuon is the only Inheritance of Abrham...
not money....

God says we should not only not seek after these things, but we should FLEE from them!
You said: "God says we should be content with just food and clothes. Anything else He gives us is truly a blessing."

You stated that we should "flee these things", but what exactly was Paul speaking of? Fleeing money, or fleeing the "love of money"?

What was Prophetess's statement? Did you read it? Did she mention chasing or even seeking riches? Wisdom says to pay close attention before commenting. You only seen certain words and then reacted to your personal assumption of the comment, instead of responding to the literal comment. A typical mistake made here on BPN.
Once again, another one reading what they want to read and responding how the want to respond. Prosperity is not evil, otherwise GOD would be guilty of promising and providing such for His faithful servants. Do you really want me to sit here and take time to list the many times GOD Himself dealt with prosperity?

Prosperity is not evil at all, for true prosperity starts with serving GOD in spirit and in truth. The old saying of being a "poor righteous teacher" is a false idea made up from certain men of GOD who simply despised the wealth of a corrupted Church at the time.
Trevor Green: "Do you really want me to sit here and take time to list the many times GOD Himself dealt with prosperity?"

Please do! By all means go ahead and list the many times God himself dealt with earthly prosperity and we will see just how often He spoke of having wealth and riches and earthly gain!

Now did God bless some of His people in the bible? Of course He did! But there were only a handfull. And look at what happened to one of the richest; Soloman.

Sure God blesses His people, but earthly gain is not sometihng He says we should seek.

Is there anything wrong with having wealth.......?

Let's read again what Paul said;

"But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition."

"For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows."

And what was Pauls warnning?

"But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness."

Are there other warnings concerning earthly gains? Yes! All through the God's word.

There is nothing wrong with having wealth, but God tells us it would be best NOT to persue it!

Now should we or should we not following the warnings of God?

So yes! You put the put it out there and I challenge you to show us ALL of the ways God told us He would bless us with earthly wealth.

We will be waiting!
Once again, you are IGNORING a very specific point: who said anything about "seeking out prosperity"? PLEASE tell me who? Then and only then will I list my list.
Brother...do you really think I'm waiting for your list?

All I am saying is that God tells us to be content with food and clothing.

Do I have more? Yes! A WHOLE lot more! Would I want to be rich? I can't say that I would. WHY?

Because Paul warned us what COULD happen;

"But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition."

Let's read what God says we all should be seeking!

Pss.19
[7] The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.
[8] The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.
[9] The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.
[10] More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.

Pss.119
[127] Therefore I love thy commandments above gold; yea, above fine gold.

Prov.3
[13] Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.
[14] For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold.
[15] She is more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her.

So please brother, go ahead and get what you can. Keep your list! Don't need it!

I'll seek more wisdom and understanding......I've already been blessed with more riches that I ever thought possible.

Doing what is needed to get into the kingdom of God is what is important now.

Doing what's on THAT list is all that matters!

.
You are STILL ignoring my point!! Who said anything about "seeking out prosperity"?

I figured that you wouldn't want to see the list. I was fully prepared to go down the line, from Genesis to Revelation, and it would have taken a looooong time too, but for the sake of proving that the Word stands firm on this, I would have. Nevertheless I would not wait for the list either if I didn't want to face a truth, so I don't blame you.
I tell you what....I have changed my mind! I really do want to see your list.

Now do as you said and prove that God's word stands firm on this. From Gen. to Rev. show us the list and the "many times GOD Himself dealt with prosperity?"

I'm very interested in knowing what scriptures you present and what type of properity you are referring to!

So go ahead....I challenge you! Give us your LIST!!!!

Again.....we will be waiting!!!!!
