Is The Trinity Biblical?
From the Christian Research Institute
www.equip.org
The Trinity is a basic doctrine of orthodox Christianity. Yet the word "Trinity" is not found anywhere in the Bible. Is the doctrine of the Trinity really biblical?
The doctrine of the Trinity says that there is one All Mighty One (God) who exists eternally as three distinct persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. I can assure you that the elements of this doctrine are all taken directly from the Bible.
The first plank of the Trinitarian platform is that there is only one All Mighty One (God). The Bible could not be more explicit on this point, which it states explicitly about two dozen times. In Isaiah 44:8 Yahweh (The LORD) says that even He does not know of any other (mighty ones)gods!
Yahshua (Jesus) often spoke of the All Mighty One (God) as His Father, and the apostles frequently spoke of "the Almighty One (God) the Father." But the New Testament also insists that Yahshua (Jesus) is The Almighty One (God). For example, Thomas acknowledged Yahshua (Jesus) as, "My Lord(master) and my Almighty One (God)" (John 20:28), and both Peter and Paul spoke of Yahshua (Jesus) as "our All Mighty One (God) and Savior" (2 Pet. 1:1; Tit. 2:13). Yet the New Testament also makes the distinction between the Father and the Son as two very different persons. In fact they tell us that they love one another, speak to each other, and seek to glorify each other (e.g., John 17: 1-26).
The Old Testament refers often to the Holy Spirit as The Almighty One (God) at work in the world, without distinction from the Father. But Yahshua (Jesus) in John 14 to 16 explained that this Holy Spirit would be sent by the Father at the Messiah’s (Christ's) request. The Holy Spirit would teach and guide the disciples, not speaking on His own initiative, but speaking on the Messiah’s 9Christ's) behalf and glorifying The messiah (Christ). Thus, the Holy Spirit is revealed by The Messiah (Christ) to be a third person distinct from the Father and distinct from the Son.
In short, the doctrine of the Trinity is completely and totally biblical, and it is essential that all the Followers of the Messiah Yahshua (Christians) give assent to this doctrine.

Last I recall, JESUS said "never the less, not MY will, but Your will be done". Both the FATHER and the SON are GOD,and yet they expressed a separate will right there. JESUS conformed to the FATHER's will.
There is nothing separate "not my will but your will". That sounds like one accord to me. You are playing with words.

Check out this group, and join. We tell the truth of the God of the Bible.
Bro. Watson,

JESUS said "never the less, not MY will, but Your will be done".

Isn't Jesus saying that it is not His will to be done, but rather the Father's will to be done? In other words, Jesus is saying he will do what the Father had sent him to do and not what he in the flesh is wanting to do which was to not go to the Cross.
Brother Trevor asked the following trivial questions:

“…Tell me, who exactly was JESUS talking to when HE prayed in John 17? PLEASE, save me the extra long babble, just simply answer the question.
Also, when Peter said that Ananias told a lie to the HOLY SPIRIT, didn't he say that the HOLY SPIRIT was GOD? A simple yes or no would be good enough here”.

Brother Trevor, the Bible says that:

“For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus”

1Timothy 2:5

Brother, let me tell you that THE MAN CHRIST JESUS WAS TALKING TO GOD THE SPIRIT WHO WAS IN HIM.

Indeed,The Bible teaches that:

”For it pleased the Father that in Him all the fullness should dwell, and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on Earth or things in Heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross”.

Colossians 1:19-20

“For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily;”

Colossians 2:9

Don’t you believe that “…God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation”???

2 Corinthians 5:19

If you do not believe this, then you are spiritually blind!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Brother Trevor, let me teach you:

Indeed, the Father is called "God", it 's true!

The Son is called "God", it's true!

The Holy Spirit is called "God", it's true!

It's also true that there aren't THREE GODS, but there is ONE GOD.

If there is ONE God, it means that there is ONE PERSON.

So, FATHER, SON, and HOLY SPIRIT are TITLES of the single God, the unique PERSON, namely Jesus Christ. Amen!

Please, tell me, how can three people be only one God?

Not only, there is no biblical passage which supports this, but that indicates even a gap of reasoning. Three distinct people, although identical in their substance make three gods or the language does not have any more a sense!

The Bible declares that God is our Savior. What does it say also about Jesus?

“awaiting the blessed hope and appearing of the glory of our great God and Saviour Jesus Christ; who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all lawlessness, and purify to himself a peculiar people, zealous for good works”.

Titus 2:13-14

Jesus is not a small god beside Yahweh the great God, but Jesus Himself is our great God and Savior. Yahweh, the Savior in the Old Testament is Jesus the Savior in the New Testament Insofar as there are not two gods or two saviors. Amen!

Please, answer this question:

“To whom then will ye liken God? and what likeness will ye compare unto him?

Isaiah 40:18

God is one!!!!

Our great God and Saviour is Jesus Christ!!!

Now, brother Trevor, will you take on the challenge of answering my following questions?

Indeed, Phillip asked a question to Jesus Christ:

Question: “Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us”

Our Lord Jesus Christ replied:

Answer: DON’T YOU KNOW ME PHILIP…?

“…Don't you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, 'Show us the Father'? 10Don't you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me?...”

We notice that Jesus didn’t reply: Don't you know HIM, Philip…?, but He replied:

DON’T YOU KNOW ME PHILIP…?

ME ! ME! ME ! ME! Amen!

WHO IS REALLY JESUS ACCORDING TO THE BIBLICAL PASSAGE ABOVE?

Brother Trevor, don’t you see the double nature of Jesus Christ?

As a MAN, He is called SON of God (John 1:14) and the MEDIATOR between God and men
(1Timothy 2:5).

But as a SPIRIT, He is called GOD, the FATHER, since GOD WAS IN HIM!!!!!

Indeed, Jesus said:

“…Don't you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, 'Show us the Father'? 10Don't you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me?...”

ME ! ME! ME ! ME! Amen!

So, FATHER, SON, and HOLY SPIRIT are TITLES of the single God, the unique PERSON, namely Jesus Christ. Amen!

Brother Trevor, let me tell you that in John 17, THE MAN CHRIST JESUS WAS TALKING TO GOD THE SPIRIT WHO WAS IN HIM.

TRINITY IS NOT SCRIPTURAL, IT’S JUST A DOCTRINE TAUGHT BY DEMONS!!!!

“The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons”.

1Timothy 4:1

Blessings,

Brother Germain
Good post Brother Germain
Hezekiah, that wasn't a good post, that was him answering his own question! And he answered it according to his own desire, not by the whole scripture.....
He did not answer that question to his own desire. He answered it by the scriptures. You answer questions by your imagination. If you knew the scriptures you would also agree with Brother Germaine, but you are of unstable rest, and are unlearned in how to read the scriptures. Line upon line, precept upon precept, here a little there a little. I can read that to you.
Brother Anthony Watson said:

"...when … the Son, Jesus Christ, was on the earth, he was both God and man..."

GOD and MAN !

I say Amen to that!

Then, Anthony Watson said:

"...Overall, it was Christ's desire to do His Father's will, and not engage His own will. He could have called down legions of angels to save His life, but he didn't do it. This was an exercise of His own free will. He didn't have to do His Father's will, but He chose to do so..."

Brother Anthony, be courageous to answer my following question to you:

If Jesus on Earth was God, was He a small god or THE ALMIGHTY GOD?

What does the Bible say about Jesus?

Let us see:

“awaiting the blessed hope and appearing of the glory of our great God and Saviour Jesus Christ; who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all lawlessness, and purify to himself a peculiar people, zealous for good works”.

Titus 2:13-14

Jesus is the Almighty God:

“Behold, he comes with the clouds, and every eye shall see him, and they which have pierced him, and all the tribes of the land shall wail because of him. Yea. Amen. I am the Alpha and the Omega, saith the Lord God, he who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty”.

Revelation 1:7-8

-the Powerful God, our Heavenly Father (Isaiah 9: 5-6),
-the true God and eternal life (1John 5: 20),
-the eternally blessed God(Romans 9: 5),
-Our great God and our Savior Jesus-Christ (Titus 2: 13),
-Immanuel: God with us (Matthew 1: 23) Alleluia!!!!
-the Alpha and the Omega, the Lord God, Who is, Who was, Who is to come, THE ALMIGHTY(Revelation 1:7-8)

As you see, Jesus has a double nature: divine and human.

If according to the Holy Scriptures Jesus Christ was the Almighty GOD, then wasn’t Jesus right when He told Philip:

“Don't you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, 'Show us the Father'? Don't you believe that I am in the Father and that the Father is in me”?

If Jesus and the Father are ONE (John 10:30), then, why do you see TWO PERSONS OR TWO DISTINCT WILLS?

Don’t you know that the will of the Son and that of the Father Who dwelt inside Him were the Same?

Indeed, “Jesus said to them, "My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I, too, am working."

John 5:17

Don’t you know that the work of the Son and that of the Father Who dwelt inside Him were the Same?

But, how do you explain the following biblical passage?

“Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, "My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will."

Matthew 26:39

Who was speaking in Matthew 26:39?

It was THE MAN CHRIST JESUS (1 Timothy 2:5).

On Earth Jesus was both God and man.

THE MAN CHRIST JESUS WAS TALKING TO GOD THE SPIRIT WHO WAS IN HIM.

There are many other examples in the Bible which show the double nature of Jesus: Both GOD and MAN.

As a true Man, Jesus could pray saying :"My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will” (Matthew 26:39).

As a true Man, Jesus could eat, drink, sleep, tire and even weep (John 11: 35).

As a true Man, He died, but as God (Yahweh) He raised Himself up: “Jesus answered and said to them, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.”

John 2: 19

The Almighty God took the form of a Man. And this body of Flesh which He called his Son is the Mediator between Him and the men.

Thus, as a true Man He could feel asleep (Luke 8:23), but as God (Yahweh), Jesus-Christ could walk on the sea (Matthew 14:24-26), rebuke the wind and the raging of the water (Luke 8: 24-25):

“But He said to them, “Where is your faith?” And they were afraid, and marveled, saying to one another, “Who can this be? For He commands even the winds and water, and they obey Him!”

Luke 8:25

However, Jesus Christ is the Almighty God!

As God (Yahweh), He could rebuke unclean spirits, drive out the demons, heal the sicks: indeed, The Bible declares:

“And as he was still coming, the demon threw him down and convulsed him. Then Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, healed the child, and gave him back to his father. And they were all amazed at the majesty of God” (Luke 9:42-43).

Jesus is the Almighty God!

As God (Yahweh) He cold forgive sins:

« And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, “Who is this who speaks blasphemies? Who can forgive sins but God alone?”

Luke 5:21, Luke 7:49

As God (Yahweh), He could open eyes of His Disciples and vanish from their sight
(Luke 24:31).

As God (Yahweh) He is omniscient and omnipresent (Luke 19:29-35; Luke 22:10-13).

As God (Yahweh), Jesus “…had no need that anyone should testify of man, for He knew what was in man.”

John 2:25

“then hear from heaven Your dwelling place, and forgive, and give to everyone according to all his ways, whose heart You know (for You alone know the hearts of the sons of men),”

2 Chronicles 6:30

Jesus is the Almighty God. Amen!

As God (Yahweh) He could enter a house doors of which were shut (without opening the doors) (John 20: 19),

As God (Yahweh), He could appear in the Sky in the form of light and shine around Saul (Acts 9: 1-5),

As God (Yahweh) He escape while passing through the midst of Jews without those being able to capture Him before the indicated time (Luke 4: 29-30).
The living God (Yahweh) in a body of flesh could say:

“Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM.” (John 8: 58).
« Therefore the Jews sought all the more to kill Him, because He not only broke the Sabbath, but also said that God was His Father, making Himself equal with God”.

John 5:18

“The Jews answered Him, saying, “For a good work we do not stone You, but for blasphemy, and because You, being a Man, make Yourself God.”

John 10:33

A Man (Son of God), but making Himself God (God manifested in flesh).

Jesus is the Almighty God! Amen!

If these Jews had the revelation of the real nature of our Lord Jesus-Christ, they would have understood that He was called Son of God as a Man, a body of flesh, but He made Himself God because He is God manifested in the flesh, Immanuel, God with us(Matthew 1:23).

There are not two people here. There are not two or three gods but two attributes of same God (Yahweh) here.

Brother Germain
Hey there Germain, I told you before I don't want to talk to you, you do not know any thing about the right way to study the scriptures. Just because you cut and past about three pages of text does not mean that you know what you are saying. I checked you contuine to use things that you have already mention. And you Hezekiah you clearly no nothing of the language (Hebrew) mean to follow! "Riddle me this, parse the word אֱלֹהִים ? tell us what that means? You can not because you don't know the rules! You are only fooling youselves not us!
You limit the Lord with that statement. Why would his word not be in all languages, and all come under one accord if we are all serving the same god?
When Jesus was on Earth he was Man all the time and God when necessary! Jesus was the WITH-us-ness of God on Earth and now he is the IS-ness of God in Spirit! He is God! We are made in God's image and likeness. Just a little insight into our own nature hints at this, because he said, evidence of him is in all of nature! We are MIND (we inherited the ability to create, think and choose!), we are BODY (the spirit dwells in the blood which is how we are able to live through generations>DNA<), we are soul ( the S.E.L.F.>Soul - Experiencing - Life in - Flesh< the breath of God in flesh. this part does not belong to us! God has saved the best part for himself! That is why this part is what the Devil is after most!) Jesus was referred to as the second Adam because like the first Adam he was not born of the sperm of Man but of the spirit of God directly! Even if we look at it biologically, we are what our Fathers are as far as our image and likeness! He is what his Father is...God Almighty!
