Fred Price once preached about the words in songs and how they can be misleading and lead you in the wrong direction.
He choose one of my favorites as his example Do Not Pass Me By. I was immediately in disagreement with him. Then I thought about what he said and I began, and still do, to examine the theology and christology in the words in the songs I hear. I began to find biblical errors.
What about you?

Yes sister even the song by beyonce to her husband Jayz (J-Hova, Jehovah) she is singing "you are my rock baby your the truth" Trust me it wont be long before somebody remake the song and change the lyrics a little. You are my rock Jesus your the truth, U are my rock I love to rock with you, I want to praise you, worship you... etc. God said be in and not of it.
That is a statement that does not reflect the gospel reality.
You can mix the the world with the gospel message, the Christ did
Church is not a building institution or organization, it is people who live in the world.
The ekklesia is the people.
I love it when people pretend to know what God/Jesus would or would not do based on their limited understanding of the character and nature of God, the bible supports what I just said bu limited.

You have no idea what Jesus would sing now. The definition of what is "worldly" varies quite widely. Most of what exist now in our world and culture has no parallels in the time of Jesus. The worldly focus is more about human nature with some generalizations about material things based on Hebrew culture which does not even exist in Israel.

But you know for a fact that Jesus would not be singing that song, Jesus may actually like Ray Charles?
I know for a fact you do not have a clue, nor do I.
The question in some cases is not only what are you singing but what are you confessing. I don't know if anyone put that out there but we really need to think about it. This is not just for secular music, which I have said on a blog on another site but in gospel music too. Some songs are just as depressing as secular songs. I mean its called Gospel Music... Sing Good news ya'll, lol.
The sad songs have their place...nothing can cleanse the spirit like a nice painful ballad

When you try to sing about struggle and sound positive then often the songs comes off as condescending...which is one of the reasons Kirk Franklin songs dont really do much for me(for the most part)

"So you going through some struggles...HA HA HA"

I know it is suppose to come off as uplifting...but still....naaah
Bingo

Its a blessing from god when a persons songs are able to minister to us and should be a huge sign when a persons music does not do it. Lily just being a stone cold sinner and Kirk Franklin with his affinity for Pornography are probably what block their music from ministering to me..but that in itself is weird because I get alot out of james clevelands music while he was a pedophile who messed with his male children(Adoptive I think though)
People, this is not a question about people and personalities, it is about music lyrics, stay in focus.
