MANY TIMES MINITERS FIND THEMSELVES NOT FULLY BEING UTILIZED BY THEIR PASTORS USING THEIR GOD GIVEN TALENTS. WHAT EVER HAPPEN TO WHAT GOD HAS FOR ME, IS FOR ME. AS PASTORS, ONE NEED TO PRACTICE WHAT THEY PREACH. TRUST IN GOD, AND LEAN NOT YOUR OWN YOUR UNDERSTANDING. REMEMBER THAT MINISTERS ARE ASSETS, NOT LIABILITIES. KEEP IN MIND THAT MORE LIKELY THAN NOT THAT IF PEOPLE ARE NOT ALLOWED TO EXERCISE THESE GIFTS/TALENTS "GOD" AND "GOD ONLY" WILL EITHER TAKE THE GIFTS/TALENTS AWAY OR REDIRECT THEM TO ANOTHER PLACE WHEREAS THEY (MINISTERS) WILL BE ABLE TO EXERCISE THESE GIFTS/TALENTS. AS PEOPLE OF COLOR IT MAY AS WELL BE A "BLACK-THING" WHEREAS INSTEAD OF APPRECIATING THE WORK THAT ONE HAS DONE, WE ALLOW THE FLESH TO TAKE OVER, AND BECOME SPIRITUAL HATTERS.

This should apply to the ministers as well as the pastors. Ministers without charge need to trust that God has them where He wants them to be, even when they feel they're being under-utilized. What God has for them IS for them... but they need to be patient.
Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith; or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching... [Rom 12:6,7]
Brother Watson, you are viewing this issue through the prism of your own experience. Dr. Nelson's post spoke of associate ministers finding themselves "not fully being utilized"; it didn't pose the hypothetical that leadership completely ignored the associate minister. If you could play no part in the worship service for four years, you were under a much heavier yoke than "not fully being utilized." If all you could do was sit in the pulpit for four years, I would think you were sufficiently patient. If everyone else was assigned something to do, then it appears you were being ostracized. That's a worst-case scenario.
But I suspect you've seen other situations, if only from afar. I suspect you know associate ministers that chafed when their pastors wouldn't "green light" some personal ministry interest. You must have heard about novices that launched out on their own when leadership didn't share their priorities. At least sometimes the strife between pastor and associate ministers has to do with the impatience of the latter.
Ephesians 4:11, "And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;"
I don't think those who are truly called and anointed by God are iintimidated by man's resumes and or credentials.
Pulpit (church) ministry is the only vocation that a person cannot pick as a career choice. Just because a person attends seminary school does not mean that they have been called by God to the ministry. You have people going to seminary school to become ordained ministers and before you can be ordained by man, you first have to be ordained (anointed) by God.
I heard someone say that they were going to seminary school so that they could get their ministry license under their belt. Now days anyone is able to get behind the pulpit and minister without being first ordained (anointed) by God.
Re pitbull.... awesome reply! you are right my friend.
Heres a thought. Im not anti title but we must keep things in perspective. Everybodies using a title these days, I wonder how may would be called apostle or prophet by another. if they themselves refused the title? Titles may be given by God but our use of them is very often fleshly, self promotional and carnal, and you sense this when you read some of the promos online.
In my view and correct me if I'm wrong, Titles may work offline online but they dont work online, in fact I see resentment towards folks with them. Personally I rather not use a title and connect with a person than use a title and it be a barrier between myself and them. The message God has given us is more important than the title we carry. In fact a called truly called of God knows his gift but will never self promote!
Let another promote you!, our job is to promote Jesus.
Its time to exalt Jesus not man. Here's the test, can you preach, get pulpit engagments and build a ministry without them? let yor gift make room for itself! Jesus did, and any man who has the anointing can do likewise. Its time to quit exalting outselves and preach Jesus. Lets get real. Theres a lost world to win out there and our truth is more important than any title, how about you?
Thank God for your tile, now lay it aside, and convince others you got what it takes!
Paul.
I have seen senior pastors who will keep someone who they know is anointed for ministy out of the pulpit. They want all of the glory/spot light (should be glorifying the Lord) for themselves. They are threatened by someone else who has an equal or greater anointing.
Understand that if you are truly anointed by God that you will also have opposition and resistance to the call of God that's on your life. The devil doesen't want you behind the pulpit. Rest assure that no man can stop what God has ordained.
Watch people who easily slide in behind the pulpit/start a ministry without every having some sort of opposition, without facing adversity. I can tell if you are anointed by the size of your adversary! No adversary, no anointing!
There are TOO many people carrying titles and living and being who they claim to be.
A title means NOTHING if you have no foundation.
What happened to preaching on street corners?
Jails?
Prisons?
Youth facilities?
Old folks homes?
Why does everybody try and get themselves ready to preach behind a podium?
Stop trying to take what another man has WORKED OUT and go make a podium on one of these street corners and preach?!
I'm tired of hearing all these whining, complaining people who claim to be children of God mad because they can't preach when ALL these street corners are empty every Sunday.
I read your whole post and what I stated yet stands.
If your leader has issues with YOU then you need to speak with HIM concerning the issues you have with HIM and if they are not resolved then there are plenty of other churches lining every street corner (I'm sure) in your city.
We have too many "saints" whining.
What did the Word say?!
Endure hardness as a good soldier!!!
This walk is not for the weak nor the weak-hearted.
I'm not being negative nor trying to be negative towards you but the truth is the truth.
