For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.

I think Paul made it clear to us that physical circumcision was in fact no longer consequential. Therefore, I  wonder whether it was disingenuous for Paul to have Timothy circumcised, if it was only done to avoid Jewish opposition.

I don't genuinely feel comfortable criticizing the great apostle for his stratagems in spreading the gospel, and I thought about that fascinating modus operandi he shared with the Corinthians of being made "all things to all men" for the sake of winning souls.

But I was recently considering--in this regard--how Paul upbraided Peter for dissembling rather than admitting he'd been eating with the Gentiles when the Judaizers visited Antioch [Gal. 2:12]. In a certain way, he was dissembling himself when he asked Timothy to be circumcised, wasn't he? He was allowing the Jews they encountered to assume he and Timothy believed something about circumcision that they did not.

I haltingly ask, shouldn't Paul have been as forthright about his thoughts re: circumcising Gentiles that he had expected Peter to be about eating with the Gentiles?

(No offense intended. Just thinking aloud.)
Why wouldn't Paul have Timothy Circumcised?
Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing. For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law. Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace. For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith. For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.
Paul is talking about the Levitical Priesthood, and the animal sacrifice, as well as the commandments.. This is still a commandment of God..

Genesis 17:7-14 And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee. And I will give unto thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land wherein thou art a stranger, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God. And God said unto Abraham, Thou shalt keep my covenant therefore, thou, and thy seed after thee in their generations. This is my covenant, which ye shall keep, between me and you and thy seed after thee; Every man child among you shall be circumcised. And ye shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin; and it shall be a token of the covenant betwixt me and you. And he that is eight days old shall be circumcised among you, every man child in your generations, he that is born in the house, or bought with money of any stranger, which is not of thy seed. He that is born in thy house, and he that is bought with thy money, must needs be circumcised: and my covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant. And the uncircumcised man child whose flesh of his foreskin is not circumcised, that soul shall be cut off from his people; he hath broken my covenant.

I don't know everlasting means ever lasting, if you think Jesus came to end this, You are misinformed.. Jesus was that God who established this covenant with Abraham.. If you do not have that understanding, then we can not communicate further... If you do not want to understand, then you will not ask questions...
Someone said to me "I posted scripture and you responded with the imagination of your heart."
