Would You Support a Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual,Church?

Have any of you ever heard of the More Light Presbyterians?
More Light Presbyterians is a founding organization of The Bishops & Elders Council network of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender [LGBT] affirming churches and organizations in the United States and Canada. The Bishops & Elders Council is convened by IWR, the Institute for Welcoming Resources, a program of NGLTF, the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force. As an openly gay Elder in the Presbyterian Church [USA].

Would you support this Presbyterian Church or be a member of this Church?
Would you support an elected official running for office that was a open Gay, Bisexual or Lesbian?

I really never had a problem with gays or bisexuals, & I respect their right to practice religion, I would not support this Church because like I stated before I just disagree with them for my own personal reasons. I have family members that or lesbian or bisexual, I don't know what to make of that, because I don't speak to any of them. I never had any gay, bisexual or lesbian friends that I knew of. If they are their not in the open about it.

But back to my point, would you support this Presbyterian Church or be a member of this Church?
Would you support an elected official running for office that was a open Gay, Bisexual or Lesbian?

I wonder if that Church supported or would support the defense of these conservative officials.

Is this a question about the church or an attack on the Republican party -lol-?

Well, to answer the question plainly... No. The reason is that the Bible says that it, along with incest, beastiality and other sexual perversions are an abomination. It is not about hatred or anything of the sort, but I cannot see where it would be right (at least according to my spiritual conscience) for me to knowingly support a church that supports anything the Bible says is sin. And if I find out that I'm supporting a church that endorses any sin, whether it is of the pastor having affairs or supporting the idea of an executive stealing money from the company and giving it to the church, I should discontinue supporting that church. I could not, then, support a church that says they support gang banging, murder, adultery, fornication, or any other thing that the Bible says is sin.

The glbt "orientation" is always made to be such a big subject, but in reality it is no greater or less than the actions of those fornicating "heterosexual" teenagers or adulterous parents in the congregation. Neither is it a greater or worse sin, and all of them should be addressed just as strongly.

I have a cousin that claims to be a lesbian; I've had a "gay" roomate in college and "gay" co-workers. I don't treat them with hatred, but treat them the same way I'd treat anyone else. I have a cousin or two that have gotten in trouble for drug related crimes, that fornicate, shack up, etc. They too are treated the exact same way because sin is sin, and it is my responsibility to present the Word in truth. They know my stance (what the Bible says) on the issues. I minister to them based on the truth of the Word (no holding back, but explaining what the Word says) when and if they allow me (if they will listen, sometimes even if they won't listen I'll still push it) or ask me.

Now I will be honest based on my experiences ministering to people of different sins. Out of the different sins: fornication, theft, heck, atheism... The most unreceptive of the Word has been a tie between the atheists and homosexuals. I don't spend too much time in debate anymore (such as atheists) like I used to because of a revelation I received of the scriptures saying to present the Word to them and if they don't accept you, kick the dust off your feet and move on, as well as the proverb scriptures that discuss not answering a fool in your folly (especially since the Bible says that it is a fool who says there is no God). Back to the point though. It seems that the reasons for the greatest non-reception of the Bible's words from the atheists is that they just don't care and in their pride cannot see anything greater than self, and the GLBT constantly try to justify it as not being applicable because it is in the Old Testament (though they will say incest which is mentioned as an abomination in the same section, is sin) despite all of the reiteration of it in the New Testament (as if there was a great divide or as if God's viewpoint of it being an abomination changed), defaulting to the "a loving God wouldn't send me to Hell because I'm a good person" type of response. Most of the others (the gangsters out there shooting at people, those robbing people, those shacking up, those fornicating, etc.) at least don't try to change the Word to fit their sin and admit that they know what they are doing is sin in the eyes of YHWH.

It seems that this is where the church loses heart though, when trying to reach this group with the Word out of true concern and love, not wanting them to face the result of rejecting the Father (that they say they believe in) on the issue, but being told that they are spewing hatred simply because they disagree with their lifestyle of choice. (You may not be able to choose every thought that enters your mind but you can choose to cast it down if it exalts itself against the knowledge of Yah/God.) ...I'm going to halt before I go into a whole dissertation on this.
seems like an anti republican thread
As a watchmen of the LORD,I cannot support this type of church.
Rom 1:24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
Rom 1:25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
Rom 1:26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
Rom 1:27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet.
Rom 1:28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; This is a lifestyle that GOD deems unclean.
Thank You
I believe those churches are filled with men and women with reprobate minds.
So, no I would not support those types of churches.
Real stuff, No and and NO!!! God bless bro.
Would you support an elected official running for office that thinks that a marriage between a man and a man, or between a woman and woman is the same as what God says a marriage is in the bible? In other words, would you vote for someone that believe 'Civil Unions' are the same as what God intended? Be careful and think about your answer now!
I don't have to think about this.
Gods laws are one with nature and science not Constitutional.

If a person I'm in favor of voting for supports civil unions and federal rights for LGBT couples, than that's a issue I will disagree on with that candidate, because the other candidates, who I may agree with on this issue, who don't support this issue, I may disagree with on other issues like the economy, my tax dollar, & my future security.

If two same sex couples have been living together as a couple for years than what's the difference, their common law husband & husband or wife & wife, or whatever role their playing, the marriage is just to throw it in the face of family, friends, or the country.

Now, if I had children and a same sex couple lived next door, and I was trying to raise my family under traditional values. Than I would have to reinforce my values of family and tradition a lot more than I may have if a traditional family lived next door. It would be almost the same as if I didn't do drugs or drink and other family members use drugs and drink around their children, when they came over, if I let them in my house, they would have to follow the rules of my house.

This issue is basic to me, I look at this issue like this.
If you was on a large spaceship with a crew of a million men & a million women, with over a billion plant seeds and animals. Now, say we only had one chance when passing a sun like star to eject 4 Aa, Ab & Ba, Bb solar nebula in the sun gravity, and the sun gravity will keep the 4 solar nebula in orbit, when Aa, Ab come together they will form life, a solar nebula that will produce a terrestrial planet like Earth in 7 day's & when Ba, Bb come together they will produce a Moon like planet, but if a Aa or Ab come together with an Ba, Bb they produce nothing. The Evolution of life depends on this.

WHAT SOLAR NEBULA DO YOU THINK THE MILLIONS OF PEOPLE ON BOARD OR GOING TO BE PRAYING COME TOGETHER.

Now, say the right solar nebula come together Aa,Ab and an Earth like planet is formed, and we have all the proper mathematics & engineering to build States, Cities & Towns & form a government & leaders, but to sustain human life men & women must come together as one and produce life.

Would we survive as a human race if a man & a man, a woman & a woman start coming together as one? Of course not. It's basic.

If you owned two animals, say chickens a male & female and you needed them to mate so you can live off their eggs or meat. Would you survive if you was given two males or two females? Of course not. It's basic.

But to get back to your question, most Americans vote based on their tax dollars & how it's going to be spent & their family safety & long term security, be it education or health care, foreign or other.

I vote based on agenda, the Economy, Health Care, Energy, Environment, Taxes, Foreign Policy, Fiscal Responsibility, Poverty, Social Security, Immigration, Homeland Security, Technology, Urban Policy, Education, Defense & Civil Rights.

If a person can't get a job or is fired from that job or if in any way shape or form that person Civil Unions is not protected I will stand-up for that person and defend that person civil rights, if I was an attorney or in politics, because that's the constitutional law.

That person deserve a chance to fight for their rights, but like I stated before, Gods law is one with nature and science not Constitutional.

The First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution is also the first section of the Bill of Rights. It is arguably the most important part of the U.S. Constitution, as it guarantees freedoms of religion, speech, writing and publishing, peaceful assembly, and the freedom to RAISE GRIEVANCE WITH THE GOVERNMENT.

In addition, it requires that a wall of separation be maintained between church and state.

THIS LAST PART SEPARATION BE MAINTAINED BETWEEN CHURCH AND STATE IS ONE TO BE READ AGAIN, BECAUSE IT'S MANS LAWS THAT GOVERN A STATE NOT GOD. I KNOW HOW THAT SOUND, BUT IT'S TRUE.

How the first amendment was written:

In the spring of 1778, the Constitutional Convention was held in Philadelphia, PA. They resolved three main religious controversies. They:

Decided that there would be no religious test, oath or other requirement for any federal elected office.

Allowed Quakers and others to affirm (rather than swear) their oaths of office.

Refrained from recognizing the religion of Christianity, or one of its denominations, as an established, state church.

But there was no specific guarantee of religious freedom.

Jefferson was pleased with the constitution, but felt it was incomplete. He pushed for legislation that would guarantee individual rights, including what he felt was the prime guarantee: freedom of and from religion. Madison promised to promote such a bill, in order to gain support for the ratification of the constitution by the State of Virginia. In 1789, the first of ten amendments were written to the constitution; they have since been known as the Bill of Rights.

Anthony Smith
First the Question went from a question to a diatribe about Republicans.....somebody dont like republicans LOL anyway canidates dont have to agree with me on biblical issues, I dont expect my canidate to legislate morality you cant anyway; the mission of the church is to transform lives. that said a church that claims to be Gay, Bi, thug, is not a church at all; its a social network not a Church {Ecclesia} Called out ones!!!!
Interestingly enough, Bishop, the word Ecclesia was originally used as a political term when JESUS used it in HIS day. Republican patry member Mike Huckabee understands this and legislates morality.

Andrew Jackson said "That Book (the Bible), sir, is the rock on which our republic rests."

George Washington said "It is impossible to rightly govern the world without GOD and the Bible."

Therefore the founding fathers knew to legislate morality.
The reason Jesus was manifested was to destroy the works of the devil. The Law was if you will legislature and the Law did not work to change people; Paul said it woke all manner of concupiscience in him. Once again I stand by my statement you can not legislate morality. You can make a Law and men and women will break that law.....
and yea, someone does seem bias against Republicans. Its interesting to note that Martin L. King was a Republican, and Democrats brought in the "Jim Crow Laws". Its interesting to note that Republicans ban the use of US tax dollars for abortion, and Democratic Presidents like Clinton and Obama have fought against and lifted this ban.
There are Democrats that are charged with crimes as well.
I stand for Democrats & Republican parties working together, I get along with Republicans very well. I raised that question because Democrats, for the most part, will stand by their constitutional law and support most groups regardless of gender, and since we are not speaking about the Republican party of the 1800's [the republican party of the 1800's stood for what the democrats stand for today Frederick Douglass was a Republican] But back to my point, it's mostly the conservative groups that will speak out against a church like this one. I listed Republicans because, if not exposed, they would come out and bash a church like this. So, since these Republicans are exposed as gay or bisexual and need to get back right with the lord would a [ LGBT] church like the Presbyterian Church support them as a member, say if that republican get out of jail claiming to be a changed man or woman & want to run for election again, churches support elected officials all the time, would a [LGBT] church like the Presbyterian Church support a convicted gay or bisexual trying to run for office. I wouldn't.

Someone mentioned Dr. King being a Republican, he may have been a Republican, but he voted for President JFK & RFK both Democrats and both President JFK & RFK & helped Dr. King and the SCLC, and, before someone say President Johnson, yes, he also helped as well.

Yours truly,
Anthony Smith
