YOU NEED TO FAST

Fasting is the most powerful spiritual discipline of all the Christian disciplines. Through fasting and prayer, the Holy Spirit can transform your life.

Fasting and prayer can also work on a much grander scale. According to Scripture, personal experience and observation, I am convinced that when God's people fast with a proper Biblical motive-seeking God's face not His hand-with a broken, repentant, and contrite spirit, God will hear from heaven and heal our lives, our churches, our communities, our nation and world. Fasting and prayer can bring about revival - a change in the direction of our nation.

This is the record of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, Who art thou?” (John 1:19)

Everyone God has created has an identity. Before you can discover your purpose on earth, it is necessary to first make a self discovery. You ought to know your identity. To arrive at this, there is need for self-probing questions that are coined in humility and sincerity. Some people are too superficial. They find it difficult to tell themselves the truth. ‘Who am I?’ is one question you need to answer.

Ordinarily, you are addressed by various titles and appellations. But that is not who you really are. Providing an answer to that question transcends your position, title, wealth or any human accolade or recognition. It transcends the physical to something more spiritual.

If you attempt to answer ‘Who am I?’ from the physical plane, you will get it wrong. Those who fulfilled their ultimate divine destiny are those who have satisfactorily answered this question. Our Lord Jesus Christ sought to discover who He was. When He found it, it was easy to discover His purpose as well. Such knowledge helped Him to stay focused and accomplish His heaven-given mission on planet earth.

A knowledge of who you are helps you to appreciate the brevity of life. In John 9:5, Jesus confidently declared, “As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world”. Who are you? An understanding of who you are patterns your life-style. The Bible calls fornicators dogs. If you know who you are, you will not live like a dog. If you realize you are a prince, you will not live like a beggar.

In defining who you are, you need to be sure who you are not. Millions of people have sought to answer this question, but looked all the wrong places. John the Baptist, like Jesus, sought to discover himself and he got the right answer. One thing common to everyone who got the answer is that they looked at the only true source - the Bible.

It is God who created you that can tell you who you are. Those who study God’s Word are wise because they will not only discover themselves, but also God’s divine blueprint for their lives. If you keep a distance from God, you may never find out who you are. Who you are is interwoven with your divine purpose.

Who are you any way? You are a heavenly product created in God’s image and likeness, empowered by God, but visiting the earth for a short while, after which you will return to account to your Creator. Hope you are not turning the earth into your permanent abode.

Please visit the link above, read the article request, and leave your comment. I need to hear what you think ASAP! Remember ....

Heb 6:1 THEREFORE LET us go on and get past the elementary stage in the teachings and doctrine of Christ, advancing steadily toward the completeness and perfection that belong to spiritual maturity. Let us not again be laying the foundation of repentance and abandonment of dead works (dead formalism) and of the faith [by which you turned] to God,"

Be Strong In The Lord

Ephesians 6:10 -11
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil."

When I consider the majesty of Almighty God, and the power of which He is, I am overwhelmed. He created the heavens and the earth and the majesty of the stars, mountains, valleys and all of nature. He is truly God. When we accept Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord, He leads us step by step on a narrow path. We learn to understand His love for us, and how He willingly teaches and protects us.

As we grow in faith and trust in Him we are often challenged to the depths of our spirit, and are called to stand firm in that faith and trust. We are told to "be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might."
But, what does that mean to be strong in the Lord? Many times we fall because we really haven't learned that to be strong means to be aware of how weak we are. That the battles that are fought are battles that we in ourselves cannot fight, but rather, by clinging to the Word of God, and resting in Him, we know that the battle is already won. His Word has so many promises, and we know God will never break a promise.

We must learn to trust Him completely, because He knows and understands all that will befall us. He has promised to be our refuge and we are not to be afraid, no matter the circumstances or those involved.

Nahum 1:7
The Lord is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and He knoweth them that trust in Him."

Isaiah 41:10
Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness."

2 Timothy 4:18
And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto His heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen."
God deals with the spiritual battles that rage around us. Nothing that we say or do, in ourselves, will remedy what takes place. It must come from Him. Often the circumstances of the day can overwhelm us, because we may momentarily take our eyes and trust off Him. He is faithful, and will never abandon us. He allows us to struggle at times so that we may learn to lean on Him with complete trust and acceptance of what He is allowing in our lives.

Ephesians 3:16-21
That He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might by His Spirit in the inner man; That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen."

Isaiah 40:31
But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint."

2 Corinthians 2:14
Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of His knowledge by us in every place."

2 Corinthians 3:4,5
And such trust have we through Christ to God-ward: Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God;"

2 Corinthians 12:9
And He said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me."

Psalm 138:3
In the day when I cried thou answeredst me, and strengthenedst me with strength in my soul."

Our dependence and trust in Him must be strengthened as we see the wickedness of the world around us. We must learn to Stand! and stand firm--not being swayed--but trusting Him and being obedient to Him, without hesitation or doubt. Our rest in Him will allow our witness to reflect through; we will not be confounded or confused, but will learn to rest in the shelter of the wing of the Almighty. What safer place is there?

Psalm 71:16
I will go in the strength of the Lord God: I will make mention of thy righteousness, even of thine only."

Psalm 71:1-5
In thee, O Lord, do I put my trust: let me never be put to confusion. Deliver me in thy righteousness, and cause me to escape: incline thine ear unto me, and save me. Be thou my strong habitation, whereunto I may continually resort: thou hast given commandment to save me; for thou art my rock and my fortress. Deliver me, O my God, out of the hand of the wicked, out of the hand of the unrighteous and cruel man. For thou art my hope, O Lord God: thou art my trust from my youth."

Psalm 31:1-3
In thee, O Lord, do I put my trust; let me never be ashamed: deliver me in thy righteousness. Bow down thine ear to me; deliver me speedily: be thou my strong rock, for an house of defense to save me. For thou art my rock and my fortress; therefore for thy name's sake lead me, and guide me."
It doesn't matter how strong the adversary appears, or how many there may be, our God is so much more. There is nothing, nor any person, who can defeat us when our trust is in Him. He is truly all-powerful and our strength lies in our dependence in Him.

Psalm 46:1-3
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Se-lah."

Psalm 27:14
Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and He shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord."

Champions Use The Weapons of Fasting

Jesus embraced prayer and fasting as effective weapons. Demon powers always succumb to these weapons. "Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. And when He had fasted forty days and forty nights, He was afterward an hungred." ~Matthew 4:1-2~

Lam 3:24 The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him

As believers in Christ Jesus, we need to trust in the Lord. When troubles come our way and we don't know what to do, we must trust God that He has all things in control and that He has our best interests at heart. Here are a few Scriptures to encourage you today. Reading them is one thing but you must believe them and not let doubt or discourgement have rule over you. We serve a powerful and able God, who is concerned about our every care.

Rom 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

Let that verse sink in...ALL THINGS WORK TOGETHER FOR GOOD, to them that LOVE GOD and to them who are the called according to His purpose. Do you believe this? As one who follows Jesus Christ, all things work together for good. Are you the called according to His purpose? Well, if you are saved, then the answer is "yes" for your life is not your own. You serve the Lord and the best place that the christian can be is to be in the center of His will. God works all things out for our good. Trust in the Lord! Believe His promises in His Word. The Lord will never fail you.

Vance Havner said, "Faith doesn't wait until it understands; in that case, it would not be faith."

A.W. Tozer said, "Faith is the vitamin that makes all we take from the Bible digestible and makes us able to receive it and assimilate it. If we do not have faith, we cannot get anything."

Psalm 84:11 For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.

Psalm 33:18 Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy;

Psalm 33:22 Let thy mercy, O LORD, be upon us, according as we hope in thee.

Psalm 31:24 Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the LORD.

Psalm 43:5 Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.

Jeremiah 17:7-10
Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is. For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit. The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.
