YOU NEED TO FAST

Fasting is the most powerful spiritual discipline of all the Christian disciplines. Through fasting and prayer, the Holy Spirit can transform your life.

Fasting and prayer can also work on a much grander scale. According to Scripture, personal experience and observation, I am convinced that when God's people fast with a proper Biblical motive-seeking God's face not His hand-with a broken, repentant, and contrite spirit, God will hear from heaven and heal our lives, our churches, our communities, our nation and world. Fasting and prayer can bring about revival - a change in the direction of our nation.

This is the record of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, Who art thou?” (John 1:19)

Everyone God has created has an identity. Before you can discover your purpose on earth, it is necessary to first make a self discovery. You ought to know your identity. To arrive at this, there is need for self-probing questions that are coined in humility and sincerity. Some people are too superficial. They find it difficult to tell themselves the truth. ‘Who am I?’ is one question you need to answer.

Ordinarily, you are addressed by various titles and appellations. But that is not who you really are. Providing an answer to that question transcends your position, title, wealth or any human accolade or recognition. It transcends the physical to something more spiritual.

If you attempt to answer ‘Who am I?’ from the physical plane, you will get it wrong. Those who fulfilled their ultimate divine destiny are those who have satisfactorily answered this question. Our Lord Jesus Christ sought to discover who He was. When He found it, it was easy to discover His purpose as well. Such knowledge helped Him to stay focused and accomplish His heaven-given mission on planet earth.

A knowledge of who you are helps you to appreciate the brevity of life. In John 9:5, Jesus confidently declared, “As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world”. Who are you? An understanding of who you are patterns your life-style. The Bible calls fornicators dogs. If you know who you are, you will not live like a dog. If you realize you are a prince, you will not live like a beggar.

In defining who you are, you need to be sure who you are not. Millions of people have sought to answer this question, but looked all the wrong places. John the Baptist, like Jesus, sought to discover himself and he got the right answer. One thing common to everyone who got the answer is that they looked at the only true source - the Bible.

It is God who created you that can tell you who you are. Those who study God’s Word are wise because they will not only discover themselves, but also God’s divine blueprint for their lives. If you keep a distance from God, you may never find out who you are. Who you are is interwoven with your divine purpose.

Who are you any way? You are a heavenly product created in God’s image and likeness, empowered by God, but visiting the earth for a short while, after which you will return to account to your Creator. Hope you are not turning the earth into your permanent abode.

I believe that when you pray and your prayer seems not to be answered, that's when you would have to turn your prayer into fasting....fasting is when you have to cut all ties and focus all of your time and energy on the Lord for a few hours or for days at a time...and focus on the certain fast for your certain situation...and a certain fast would be one such as the Daniel or the Ester Fast...fasting is something that brings us closer to God....it makes you a stronger person in Christ...such as your Christain walk...understanding God's word...living God's word...praying...your discerning Spirits...and sharing His word with others...it also makes us healthier. God Bless!! Tonia

I want to Fast because I know fasting discipline, but I would start to fast and always break it before time. I feel God is leading me prayer and fasting to bring me to a higher place of praise. Even my prayer life is different, my prayer is more of a war prayer that the quiet prayer that I use to do. Every time I pray it like I'm fighting in my prayer and I know that I need to fast and prayer to get this breakthrough because God is truly leading me in a new direction of warfare

Blessings, I believe fasting to be a discipline which brings the mind, body, and soul under the subjection of the Holy Spirit. And, this is the chosen fast of the Lord: To loose the chains of injustice, untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free, and break every yoke(Isaiah 58:6). In addition, the moment I started fasting I immediately felt better. My mindset was more Spiritual than carnal. My thoughts was cleansed through the Holy Spirit, I operated more in the movement of the Spirit, I had a greater commitment was for doing the Lord's work, and taking care of His people. Next, The level of fasting became a lifestyle like Salvation is suppose to be. Even my body was disciplined to eat at a certain time and to eliminate excessive junk food. Finally, My soul hungered for more of the Lord and His Word- Apostle Allen

Hi believers, I have written a commentary in the 'Doctrine' section entitled "Let's do Spiritual Warfare against WILLIE LYNCH!' Please go over and read it, and let us do warfare against this madness that was passed down and unfortunately, still resides in the thoughts and mindsets of African/Americans, and in fact, blacks everywhere.

Fasting is a discipline we must all learn, it comes with prayer in praying for God's people, praying for our nation. The more we come together in prayer and fasting the more Jesus hears our prayers.Everything happens for a reason, nothing is by mistake. We must learn to love people for who they are, and see each other as God's see us. More insight we hear from God, the better we are at handling the daily challenges that arise in our daily life. We must walk by faith, and not by sight. God is a good God, and will see us through.

I would respectfully suggest that a group started to promote praying and fasting should not be used to spam and ask for money. That is just disgusting. We are here to learn about fasting and praying.
