I look on chaplaincy as a hands on, no frills, no holds barred ministry! I put away the expensive suits and robes upon my arrival there in the Southwest. I lived in a shed in the middle of the desert. I submitted myself as a servant. I have been spit on, lied on by staff, physically attacked by inmates but through it all I know who I am in Christ. I concur with Dr. Mark Stevens that we must press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. I have had many inner city pastors ask me what is so compelling about prison ministry? My response is simple; Isaiah 61:1-2, "The Spirit of the Lord us upon and has anointed me to preach the gospel..." It is for the furthering of the gospel I teach and preach. I stand boldly not to impress man but to connect with God and do His will. We must learn to count it all joy. I was persecuted for writing an inspirational book about my time as a chaplain but God humbled me and I am ready to proclaim...To God be the glory for the things He has done! My living has not been in vain.
Be blessed...
