Men are from Mars, women are from Venus. We have heard this many times. We may not understand why, but we truly know there is an obvious difference between the two.

And I know the more I understand about the “Male” creature, the more I can get along with the “Male” creature. And one thing for sure, the more I understand what “Scripture” says about my marriage, the better things are.

My hubby is always “interrupting” my daily flow by requesting my presence. He can be watching TV, working out, or changing the oil, but he will always call me to come and sit. And of course, I would always want to talk. Big mistake. Because what I am learning is, sometimes, he just wants me there. No conversations, no joking, just present. Last night, I was on a role. I had laundry going, was cleaning out a file cabinet AND working on a spreadsheet on the computer, when I received “the call”...”Babe, can you come here?” and I follow the voice to the bedroom, where he is lying across the bed watching TV. “What's up?” I say. “Why don't you lay down with me.” He says. And my first response was huh? Dude, I am on a role here. No, I don't have time to lay down and watch CNN!!! But, I do. I lay there preparing my mental “to-do” list, as he becomes content with my presence. We did not utter a word to each other. We were just in each others presence.

Later that evening he made a comment, he said “you know babe, I really enjoyed you today.” And that's when the light bulb went on for me and I realized, sometimes, he just wants me there. I pay attention now to those little moments. If he is working out, I will go and sit in our workout room, and just watch. When he works on the cars, I will go out...and just watch. Because sometimes, as simple as it is, it is all that they need, our presence.

“Let each of you look out not only for his own interest, but also for the interests of others.” _ Philippians 2:4
