Should forgiveness be a commandment? forgiveness is detrimental to believers mainly because of
Luke 6:37
"Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:"
Therefore if we forgive others we will be forgiven, If we are not forgiven how then can we make it into heaven. Then we should follow the lead of Jesus, who said father forgive them for they do not know what they are doing. So Jesus even forgave his persecutors, and he forgave his betrayer, Judas.
Now Jesus who sits on the right hand of the Father is waiting with open arms for us to make these same right decisions as he did. Jesus said in Matthew 10:38
Matthew 10:38
" And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me."
We are not worthy of Christ, if we do not follow him. So we must do the work of Christ, obeying the laws and ordinances of God. Jesus walked the earth without sin, and from his birth to his death he was holy and righteous and obeyed God. Before facing the death of the cross, Jesus prayed nevertheless, not my will but your will be done. We are born in sin, but we must eventually make the choice to live for God, obey his commandments and pick up our cross and follow Christ.
Please feel free to add to this discussion with your thoughts and even suggestions that may help others to understand forgiveness and the importance of them.
God Bless You
