The will of God versus the will of man
The will of God versus the will of man ! Does this indeed apply to how to get closer to God? I believe it does first of all the will of God can only be revealed to us by the spirit of God. His will can only be expressed by God in his word. We do not think like God and our ways are not like his so we must first of all study to show ourselves approval to God, rightly dividing the word of truth.
Isaiah 55:8 says"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord."
The only way we can half way think like God is if our minds have been renewed and transformed by God and then we have to submit to him totally and deny ourselves.
Our will is a easy one, most of the time our will is actually the will of our flesh and our flesh will not please God.
Romans 8:8 says " So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God."
Therefore if we obey our will (flesh), God is not pleased and if he is not pleased we can not be drawing closer to him. We must read,study and obey God's word to draw close to him. We must pray without ceasing. Romans 12:2 says (paraphrased) and be not conformed to this world: but be transformed by the renewing of our minds that you may prove what is that good and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
What else must we do to draw closer to God ? Feel free to add to this discussion, it is meant to build up the people of God and help them to draw nearer to God.
