As we enter 2010, the year of manifestation, and as we approach the observance of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s birthday, this question occurred to me: What is the relevance of the Drum Major for Justice in our modern day ministry? Whether we have store-front, neighborhood, mega churches, or any other type of ministry, does Dr. King hold any relevance for us today? If so, what is it, in your opinion? Dr. King also was not just a local leader but a world changer. Is he relevant to contemporary world changing ministry, or is he merely a historical icon?

Dear Pastor:
The relevance of any time changer, world interceptor, life changer, or history maker's purpose as we well know is to be a porter for some future advent or event! Such was that of Moses to bring the Jews out of bondage and to set a precedent that one life can make a difference; Whether good or bad(such as Adolf Hitler! Those that promoted slavery or tried to prevent a race of people from going into or achieving anything other than the mandate of God!
The evidence that we are not so much further ahead speaks to the answer that we have almost forgot the great suffrage that any move of God or history has taught us! First of all we only viewed Dr. King as a civil rights leader when he really was a Prophet who did not quite understand his timing to the very end. When God let him look over into what we are seeing now. With a Black American President, doesn't mean I agree or disagree with the Leader of this country I just believe we have all aborted our mission to some extent.
As we well know that anyone who forgets HIs-Story is subject to have to repeat it again!
May God help us to get back to our mission and assigments in this year of Manisfestation!

Excellent! I agree Apostle. Dr. King was well ahead of his time, yet he appeared right on time to pave the way for what we are experiencing today. His words and perspective are still with us. I also agree that we must recommit to our mission and work it in this year of manifestation. We not only do Dr. King or the struggle a disservice when we reduce him to merely a civil rights leader, we do ourselves a disservice. We also cannot allow ourselves to be lulled to sleep just because we have a black president. Having President Obama in the White House is not the goal or culmination of all that Dr. King and countless others fought, bled, and died for, yet he (President Obama) is a bright shining symbol of all that is possible when you walk with God!
