In this selection author Dorothy Hopper examines a woman's responsibilities in constrast to fulfillment of personal pleasure, asking herself the question, "what does life require of me?"

What a furtive hope is pleasure. for life does not deal with us so tenderly as to cater to our personal desires. Life deals us a set of cards, and then says, "Here, see what you can do with them." To take an unbalanced or mediocre hand and play it brilliantly- this is what makes the game existing. Even when choice seems nonexistent, life can be an act of declaration rather than the course of least resistance. One asks oneself over the morning dishes and in the dead of night, "What shall I do with my life?" If the answer is primary a self-centered one, it is sure to be limiting and eventuallly unsatisfying.

If a woman matures as she ages, a time comes when she will put aside the wish, "Oh, what I long to be," and ask herself, "What would give me gretest pleasure," and demands of herself, "What is my responsibility?"
When she has decided what her responsibility shall be, she has also determined her goals, her purposes in life and her daily philosophy. It is importand to think of responsibility in the broadest possible terms: family, world, community and self. It is helpful to think through one's philosophy in a fairly specific way. I have set forth my own thoughts in this way: " My purpose in life is to make it possible for every living person (myself included) to develop his or her own potentialities in the greatest measure, and to live creatively according to his or her own possibilities." I work to achieve this in my personal familly relationships, through my husband's work, through comunity service and in support of organizations and political candidates dedicated to this purpose on a national and international level.

in our own words:

We see here that our mission as woman and leaders do not differ, from generation to generation we have evolved from the home, to the workplace and now in the pulpit.
I wish to be a vehicle of light for there is a big need for direction in society as we are flooded with negative images of women and in overall you can see the effect that a divided home has had on our youth of today! yes, it is time to take a stand and be the people that we where place here on earth to be. I once again thank my Lord for giving me a voice, for giving me a direction in my life as I grow and explore my options, I come up with one conclusion we are all in this together, for better or for worse we are women and we have power to implement change under any circumstance, with God's Hand in our lives, How can we fail?

GIVE GLORY TO OUR FATHER, WHICH IS HEAVEN FOR HE HAS GIVEN US WISDOM TO GO THROUGH LIFE STRUGGLES AND STILL COME OUT VICTORIOUS IN JESUS HOLY NAME. AMEN
