Roman 8:28

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him who have been called according to his purpose

All to often we look at the dark places in our lives and say what good can come from that part of my life. Some people say the dark places make up most of their lives. And that kind of thinking leads to lying about who we are and where God has saved us out of.
I have walked the dark streets of life. And I knew people from the dark streets of life. And all to many who have made those streets their home
The corner of the street where I grow up, was called the heart of the jungle by a judge in the newspaper.

That hurt me when I read it in the newspaper. We were not animals nor were we savages as the judge implied. There were many good and descent people who led there. But we did have all of the problems that low income and broken homes can bring to families. Where a person lives does not tell you all you need to know about a person, as some people think. The years I spent in the deep part of the intercity made me very usable by God in other cities. When I went to my appointments the people know I understood where they were coming from, because I can from the same place. I'm not saying you can't serve God in a place if you have not lived in the same kind of place. Because that is not true. If God calls you to a ministry he will give you all you need serve him there.
But when you have come from the same kind of place where your people live, they see that God can and will save them for his serve. Because he called and saved you.
