Apostle Witherspoon has served eleven (11) years as the Senior Pastor of the Life Cathedral Worship Center, Monroe, North Carolina. Under Apostle Witherspoon’s leadership, Life Cathedral has experienced remarkable growth.

A native of Paterson, New Jersey and later re-locating to Lancaster, South Carolina, Apostle Witherspoon received his Bachelor of Science degree in Intermediate Education with a minor in Psychology from Barber-Scotia College, Concord, North Carolina in 1983, and pursued further Masters (Graduate) studies through the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 1988. Additional studies were at Auburn University, Montgomery, Alabama and South Piedmont Community College, Monroe, North Carolina. After Apostle Witherspoon acknowledged his call into the ministry, he served faithfully as an associate minister at St. John Glorious Fire Baptized Holiness Church of God, Inc., Pageland, South Carolina for eight (8) years.

In 1996, he was elevated to the Jurisdictional Presiding Eldership over the South Carolina District. In 1998, due to divine favor of God, he was appointed to the Jurisdictional General Overseer of the Glorious Fire Baptized Holiness Church of God, Inc. Apostle Witherspoon served faithfully as the Presidium Assistant to the Most Honorable Apostle Ida Belle Parker, The Jurisdictional Presidium, the Glorious Fire Baptized Holiness Church of God, Inc. He was duly consecrated to the Sacred Office of the Bishopric in November 2001 by Apostle Sylvester Davis Johnson and confirmed to the Apostleship in November 2008.

Apostle Witherspoon has instituted numerous ministerial programs, including Vision2000, an extensive building program, which has accommodated the needs of the Church and provides ministerial preparation for this new millennium. As the Life Cathedral family has grown, so have the accolades and volume for its ministerial staff. Ten ordained (10) ministers serve in the local Jurisdictional Church, functioning in the following areas of ministry: Christian Education, Mission, Youth Enrichment, Community Outreach Finance, Stewardship, Music and Arts Praise Ministry. He is an affiliate with the College of Bishops of the International True Vine Churches of Deliverance, Inc., Winston-Salem, North Carolina, which focuses on continuity among Pentecostal Churches and new vision. He has served as the Minister of Music over twenty years in the Glorious Ministry. The mantle of the Minister of Music has been bestowed upon his eldest son, Minister Christian Witherspoon, a forthcoming young man who plays under the anointing of God.

He has also been the recipient on many awards for his outstanding accomplishments through his spiritual enlightenment of his congregation and the community. Apostle Witherspoon is consistently challenging the members to seek the truth and study to show thyself approved. “For me, this Christian journey is a lifetime commitment and I am still growing. I heard a minister reflect that he was young in the ministry, but old in the Holy Ghost. I, too, can echo that same sentiment. I am strongly committed to do God’s will. It is my responsibility as a shepherd over God’s flock to make sure that the congregation feels and acts accordingly.”

Apostle Witherspoon and his wife, Prophetess Stella Witherspoon, are the proud parents of four children, Christian, Mercedes, Terica and Zaire. The family resides in Charlotte, North Carolina.
