- My name is Arthur D. Karpee from Grand Bassa County, Liberia. He is legally married to Mrs. Edith Karpee and this union has been blessed with eight children. He is secretary by profession, a Christian who loves the Lord. He is the Excutive Director of Pastors Assistance and Welfare Outreach Ministries (PAWOM) an organization that focuses on meeting the needs of needed pastors commonly called "Grass root Pastors."
A BRIEF HISTORY OF PAWOM
Despite the influx of missionaries from around the world in Liberia and the efforts of other men of God in Liberia, spreading the gospels of Jesus, the Lord is still in the business of opening the eyes and understanding of His people to mysteriously figure out some of the THORNS that are still in the flesh of organic word of God in this nation (Liberia) and these are some of the major constrains the churches are faced with. From keen observation, you will note that about 99% of the pastoral force in this country are grass rooters and worst of all are living in abject poverty. Grass root pastors are those ascidiously working -preaching and teaching the word of God-on a daily basis, but unfortunately are living in destitute; they hardly get adequate daily meal, wearing, transportation, shelters, good education, some can not even afford to buy a devotional bible and even the churches they lead monthly income can not sustain them.
Additionally, because of the fourteen years civil war, conditions get even more difficult, thus causing some these pastors at turning their back on the work of the church and go out in search of secular jobs or food for living. This mood is causing the majority of these grass root pastors to be ineffective and inefficient.
It is in this vein, visionary in person of Arthur D. Karpee and Mrs. Edith Karpee on the 10th of September 1998 obediently yielded to the call of the Lord to serve by providing voluntary support to these pastors through this ministry, Pastors Assistance & Welfare Outreach Ministry Inc. (PAWOM), for the enhancement of the Gospel.
Presently, the ministry, through the grace of God has been registered with the government of Liberia as an interdenominational, non political and non governmental organization. Also, we have structure and put into place leadership to stair the affairs of this ministry. The leadership comprises of seven members advisory board and an Administrative department responsible for the day to day activities of the ministry. To God be the glory.
