Gilbert came to know Jesus Christ as his personal Savior in March 2005 during a revival conducted by his then pastor, Pastor Johnny W. Johnson, Sr. Later on, Gilbert acknowledged the call to ministry and his first sermon was preached August, 2006 at the age of 12. He’s had the privilege of meeting some of the world’s greatest televangelist and other gospel greats including: Bishop T.D. Jakes, Pastor Shirley Ceasar, Bishop Hezekiah Walker, and Bishop Eddie L. Long. He has since then evangelized all around the world from Niagara Falls to Florida, South Carolina to California, and points in between. Wherever Elder Grantlin ministers the word of God there are testimonies of healing, miracles, and lives being changed through the power of the Holy Ghost.
Youth of Excellence Ministry was born out of the scripture found in Colossians 1:28, which reads, "Whom we preach, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, which we may present every man excellent in Christ Jesus." This was the vision God placed in the spirit of Elder Grantlin. His call to the presidential (over Youth of Excellence Ministry) occurred in church services at Power of Prayer Ministries. Elder Grantlin recalls that moment: “The Spirit of the Lord allowed me to see people trickle toward me as water. It was at this time that the spirit of the Lord spoke into my spirit, they are coming to you. Suddenly there was a multitude of teenagers and people before me of all races,” and the Lord said, “They are coming to you to receive.” That was when the birth of Youth of Excellence Ministry had occurred, August 2009.
Of his calling, Elder Grantlin says, "The thirst of the ministry is a hunger for souls. Since becoming a traveling evangelist and elder, I have been completely consumed with the challenge of presenting Jesus, not only to my local church, but to evangelize to the world with the gospel. I would rather preach than eat, pray than sleep, and give to the ministry than receive the accolades of men. The zeal for God's house has eaten me up."
