- Pastor Eugene Marshelle’ Tate was born to Rev. Percy Lee Claiborne and to the late Dr. Evangelist Ophelia Claiborne on December 30, 1974. Pastor Tate grew up in a small town in the delta by the name of Marvell. This is where he attended school and is a graduate of Marvell High School. During the course of his life, Pastor Tate was called into the ministry at the age of 14 on the 3rd Sunday of August in 1989 under the leadership of the late Rev. M.C. Lawson at Wesley Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church. He served as Sunday School Superintendent, acting secretary and worship leader of the East - Northeast Conference District of the 12th Episcopal District. He also served as Acting Pastor until the death of the late Rev. M.C. Lawson. Following the death of Rev. Lawson, Pastor Tate was announced as the Youth Pastor of Wesley Chapel AME Church under the leadership of Rev. A. J. Holman. In 1992 Pastor Eugene Tate was appointed Pastor of Derricks Chapel AME Church in Wabesseka, Arkansas. On October of the same year Pastor joined the United States Armed Forces where he enlisted in the U.S. Army where he was appointed to the seat of Chaplain Assistant for the National Guard. One of the locations that Pastor served was in Helena, Arkansas at the local Armory. In 1993 Pastor Tate graduated from Marvell High School and served his country in the U.S. Army where he was stationed in many locations. During this time Pastor received numerous awards from being soldier of the month to 1st Place in a cooking competition, where the tallest wedding cake was made in the history of the United States Armed Forces as well many accomplishments including being the youngest Drill Instructor. On March of 2000, Pastor Tate was honorably relieved of duty from the United States Army.
Being led by the Spirit of God, Pastor then joined Greater Paradise Missionary Baptist Church what is now known as Covenant of Zion Cathedral where the Pastor is none other than Bishop Charles E Williams. Pastor was a faithful member where he served on the Helping Hands Ministry and the Ministerial Board. Being led by God, Pastor joined Independence Baptist Church under the leadership of Bishop Michael L. Desmuke. Pastor served as the Servant Leader of the Helping Hands Ministry, the Ministerial Board, Men’s Ministry and his favorite, Media Ministry in which he brought flavor into getting the Word of God out to his people.
Pastor Tate was then asked to serve as Pastor of New Bethel M.B. Church in Little Rock, Arkansas; where the church grew over night and still is growing strong. Pastor later joined Walnut Grove Ministries under the leadership of Pastor Ray Floyd, Sr. of Walnut Grove Ministries in North Little Rock, Arkansas where he served as the Pastor of the Men’s Ministry.
In 2009, being led by the Spirit of God, Pastor Tate rejoined with Covenant of Zion Cathedral where he currently serving as Youth Pastor, serving on the Elder’s Council, as well as the Covenant of Zion Cathedral Board of Directors and Chief Armorbearer of Covenatn of Zion Cathedral and the National Assembly of Christian Churches & Ministry Fellowship Inc. where Bishop Charles E. Williams is the Presiding Prelate. Pastor Tate is a man of wisdom, love and charisma. Pastor Tate has been ordained to preach the word with such powerful, apostolic, anointing in such a time as this as well as believing in operating in the “Five-fold Ministry of God.” Pastor Tate is a man that is truly a man of God that is after the heart of God.
