Karen King a native New Yorker was raised in Brooklyn, New York. At a young age Karen’s God given gift as a singer was recognized under the tutelage of Bishop Roy E. Brown, Pastor of Pilgrim Church. During her tenure as a member of Pilgrim Church, Karen joined the choir where her gift was further developed. Karen’s service and development within this ministry continued until the family relocated to the Greater Cleveland Area in 1974.
After the family’s relocation in Cleveland, Karen continued to yield her life and vocal gift to the guiding of the Holy Spirit. Having fully realized the importance of using her vocal talent to glorify God, Karen began to take her place among Cleveland’s premier Gospel Soloist and Praise and Worship Leaders.
Along with the continued development of her rich, vibrant alto voice, God began to develop within Karen a talent and anointing for music composition. Her original songs have received local and nationwide attention. The Christian Fellowship Center Choir, The Christian Fellowship Praise Team, and Overseer Robert G. Moore have recorded them locally. Nationally, by groups such as Wayne Evans and Simply Praise and she have recorded for Mr. Jesse Boyce from Nashville, TN, as part of a compilation project.
Over the years Karen has been a featured soloist, opening or performing with such dynamic ministries as Daryl Coley, the late Danniebelle Hall. The Chicago Mass Choir, Gary Oliver, Commissioned and Kirk Franklin and the Family. Karen’s national credits Include: featured soloist on the Trinity Broadcasting Network; writer and soloist credits for Robert G. Moore’s second CD release title song, “Hosanna,” and background singer for gospel artist “Carmen”. Her acclaimed ability as an awesome worship leader has opened doors to Ministering in many Women’s Conferences locally and abroad. Karen’s most recent accomplishment is the release of her début CD, “Absolutely” in 2009.
Karen and her husband Elder Michael H. King have been married for 26 years and have served in the ministry together for 24 years. Mrs. King is now under the headship if Bishop Jesse Delano Ellis and Overseer Sabrina Joyce Ellis, of the Pentecostal Church of Christ, here she serves in the music department choir and praise team.
Karen always makes sure to place praise and worship to the one and only living God who she knows to be her Lord and Savior, first and foremost in her life. In doing so she has placed herself in position to be mightily used by God
