Reverend Alicia Tyson-Sherwood is an Associate Minister at Mt Aery Baptist Church, Bridgeport. CT., under the pastorate of Reverend, Doctor Anthony L. Bennett.
Reverend Alicia is not into titles and consider herself a “King’s Kid.” Upon joining Mt. Aery, she studied under the Academy of Ministry and Spiritual Gifts and received the Deans Award. She currently serves as a co-laborer in the Prayer Ministry, a contributor in Jesus Corner, a teacher in the New Disciple Ministry, and a contributing writer of the 40 days of Prayer Booklet published in April 2006. This King’s Kid was recently asked to serve as the Connecticut State Women-N-Power Fairfield Chapter President. Women-N-Power is The Fastest Growing Ministry Network in the World and their motto is: "Sisters Helping Sisters."
Reverend Tyson-Sherwood is a 1999 graduate of the University of Bridgeport, CT where she received a Master of Science degree in Education and is currently employed as an Adjunct Professor of Computer Technology and English at Post University, Waterbury, CT. She also substitute teach in the Waterbury and Naugatuck Board of Education. Reverend Tyson-Sherwood is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
Reverend Alicia Tyson-Sherwood is the wife of Charles Sherwood Jr. She is the mother of two wonderfully gifted children, Charles III, a graduate of Alabama A and M and Amelia, a senior at Lincoln University. She is a native of Waterbury, CT and was educated in the Waterbury parochial school systems.
Yielding herself and her will to God, Reverend Tyson-Sherwood accepted her call to preach the Gospel in 2000 while attending Victory Tabernacle Church of the Living God in Waterbury, Connecticut. She was ordained in 2003 as a Youth Pastor at Victory Tabernacle Church.
Reverend Tyson-Sherwood loves to teach and began teaching in her first year of college. She is an avid reader and cherishes the time spent with her book club of five years. Her mission is to partner with Christ to proclaim the gospel. Her vision is to build a church and school in South Africa, write a book about church and family, and to continue to serve and learn more about Jesus.

When you really look at it, the church has become a “business operation”. We have all of these conferences, where you have to pay all of this money to attend. You hear more about wealth, than you hear about trying to build a Christian spirit…
It makes me sad to think of so-called leaders in the black community talking about repositioning yourself, empowerment this and empowerment that and folks is dying spiritually and physically. How about we empower ourselves to preach the gospel! Instead of another seminar on how to have a successful business, how about we have a seminar on how to get saved!
I was looking at Jeremiah 23 this morning: ”But if they [these false prophets] had stood in My council, then they would have announced My words [not their words] to My people, and would have turned them back from their evil way and from the evil of their deeds.” Jer. 23:22 That’s interesting, because it seems as if history had already begun to repeat itself!
