My custom on New Year’s Day used to be to brew coffee all day, relax and read the previous year’s journals. I always found it intriguing to look back at the things that had happened and how God got me through them!
The last two New Year’s I’ve been somewhat displaced and don’t even know where my journals are! But this morning I was thinking back over the year. Actually, my mind went to the year before as well. It’s been a rough two years. A sister diagnosed with a brain tumor, my aunt was mugged in broad daylight at the mall, and my son had a tragic wreck from which he is still recovering. All of that happened in 2008. I have spent all of 2009 in various nursing facilities with my son as he slowly recovers.

As I reminisced, I tried to keep from letting the feeling of homelessness swallow me.

This morning as I was studying I ended up in James chapter 1 where he says to count it all joy when you encounter various trials. In this familiar passage, James says that these tests produce endurance. Now that’s a term I understand!

You don’t wake up one morning able to run a marathon. It takes months and sometimes years to build endurance for the race! Life isn’t a short, fast sprint to the finish line. It’s a long journey more like an Ultra. (An ultra is anything longer than a marathon which is 26.1 miles)

I spent a little time thinking about how endurance is built or established. Why didn’t God just make us able? Well, in one way He did. He made us able to build endurance! He did not make our bodies to never get ill. He made them to heal themselves! We would become very weak if we were never exposed to bacteria or other intruders. Our bodies were designed to fight off disease. Without a defense, there would be no strength. Without testing there would be no endurance.

Have my struggles made me stronger? I had to think on that for a little while. I wondered What have I learned? What have I held on to?

Immediately my mind went to a familiar psalm. The psalmist penned, My heart is fixed! I will sing! (Psalm 57:7) I must say with David that my heart is fixed; it is steadfast. I do not have the strength to let go of God! He has been my mainstay. Not by keeping terrible things from happening, but by continuing to walk through them with me as He is coaching me to not give up and not give in! Nothing changes Him; He is still on the throne!

Paul went through some stuff too. He gave us an exhaustive list in 2 Corinthians 11:22-29. But isn’t this the same apostle who told the Philippians to rejoice in the Lord always? And the same Paul who instructed the Thessalonian believers in everything give thanks?

Who knows what a new year may bring for us? Just like all other years, there will be rough times and smooth times. So let our song always be the words of David: my heart and my flesh my fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

There have been times when I didn’t feel like I could move one more step into another day; but God has been my strength and as the hymn states, the anchor holds!

I don’t really do New Year’s resolutions, but I do plan to continue holding to Him with all my strength as has been my custom and I don’t plan on changing now! He has been our dwelling place in all generations. (Psalm 90:1) I don’t plan on moving from there!IN A Hurry? Why?tag:abcpreachers.ning.com,2009-12-30:916966:BlogPost:11625412009-12-30T22:14:37.000ZProphetess Jeanie Olingerhttps://abcpreachers.ning.com/profile/Jeanie
Why the hurry? I have been thinking about this a lot more lately as I drive. It seems everyone is in a huge hurry to get where they are going. Many are going to jobs they don’t even like and will complain about all week long. Why such a rush?

If you drive the speed limit or even the five miles over we erroneously try to justify, people pass you like you are sitting still! For the most part it is hurry, hurry, and hurry! I must admit that I get impatient when I am behind someone at a stoplight…

If you drive the speed limit or even the five miles over we erroneously try to justify, people pass you like you are sitting still! For the most part it is hurry, hurry, and hurry! I must admit that I get impatient when I am behind someone at a stoplight and they don’t move as soon as it turns green. But why?

Why are we in such a hurry? Is it simply because we can go faster? Is it because we have modern vehicles and have the ability to go faster than previous generations? Everything goes faster, so are we in a hurry just because we can?

The funny thing is that we can physically go so much faster; yet spiritually we go so much slower. Spiritually, we are so far behind those who came before. They could not travel in the natural as fast as we can but in spiritual matters, they far surpassed us.

Perhaps if we slow down in the natural, we could go further, faster in the spiritual. Our Lives Are At Stake!tag:abcpreachers.ning.com,2009-12-05:916966:BlogPost:11280822009-12-05T00:19:50.000ZProphetess Jeanie Olingerhttps://abcpreachers.ning.com/profile/Jeanie
For the past few days I have heard many cries. There is turmoil in our land. There are no doubts that the enemy is at work to distract, discredit and destroy the work of God in His body. While he cannot accomplish the latter two, he definitely does well at distraction.
Certainly if you are alive, breathing, and reading this you know of several situations in your own sphere where the enemy has broadened or launched an attack.

When Apostle Paul addressed the elders at Ephesus, he knew by the Spirit some of the distress which was going to come upon them. He said in Acts 20:29, “I know after my departure savage wolves will come in among you not sparing the flock and from among your own selves men will arise speaking perverse things to draw away disciples after themselves.”

Notice the attacks were not from strangers; they were among them. The whole point was to draw them away.
Paul then offered his counsel for what the Ephesian elders should do to fortify and stand during the attacks that would be launched against them.

The first thing he instructed them to do was to be on the alert. (Acts 20:31) This is the same thing Peter told the church which had been scattered throughout the regions. In I Peter 5:6-9 he told the Christians to humble themselves before God, cast all their cares on Him, and then he told them to be sober in spirit and to be on the alert. I believe this is what Paul is saying as well, be watchful.

The next piece of instruction for the Ephesians is in verse 32. He told them that he was “commending” them to God and to His word of grace. Paul was telling the elders that he had placed them in God for safe-keeping. This is what we must do in the body presently. There are those who are being hurt deeply by the attacks of the enemy. Those wounds must not fester but must be dealt with properly. We must place each other in God’s heart for safe keeping. If we choose sides we will protect wounds and they will not heal. Only God can bring about healing for the wounds occurring in the body during this time.

We must place people in God’s heart, not our own. He places people in our heart for us to bring them back to Him in intercession. We cannot heal them; He alone is able to bring complete healing to wounded hearts.
In verse 32 we find the last two words of instruction. Paul told them to keep working so that they would help the weak and also to remember the words of Christ.

We must not stop now. Whatever God has given us to do to further His kingdom is what we need to continue doing! Prayer warriors keep praying. Teachers keep teaching. Prophets keep speaking. Pastors keep tending the sheep. Apostles keep giving oversight to pastors. Writers keep writing His thoughts. Psalmists keep singing His prophetic praise. Whatever your role is do it with all your might! Our lives are at stake!Water Crossingtag:abcpreachers.ning.com,2009-02-09:916966:BlogPost:4321122009-02-09T14:02:02.000ZProphetess Jeanie Olingerhttps://abcpreachers.ning.com/profile/Jeanie
Sometimes things just don’t make sense! I do not know if they really are always supposed to or not.
God delivered the Children of Israel out of Egypt with great signs and wonders. Later, in Deuteronomy, He will ask them if they ever knew of a God who went into another nation to take His own nation out with such display of power and signs and wonders. (Deut. 4:34)

But even with all that, it had to be somewhat confusing to them. The first thing they did was run right into the Red Sea with Pharaoh’s army closing in behind them. Our first thought many times when we run into a tough spot is that we must have missed God! Moses had not missed God just because he faced the raging army or Sea!

As the story goes, God parted the sea and destroyed the army setting His own people free once again. They rejoiced with great singing, dancing, and tambourine playing! What a great day it was!

They leave the banks of the Red Sea to travel three days toward their destination only to find no water! They were so upset with Moses, to think that he had brought them all the way out into the wilderness only to die of thirst!
What were they thinking? God delivered them from Egypt, Pharaoh, and the Red Sea; what was bitter water to a God like that?

How many times do we easily forget the mighty displays of God’s power from our past when faced with our future? (that’s a rhetorical question – it’s too many to number! )

Just like God had an answer for their struggles before, He had one for them that day as well.

Moses scanned the edges of the bitter water looking for any kind of answers God might have for the crowd. Then God revealed the answer…. A Tree?

What good is a tree with bitter water? Have you ever tried to drink a tree? I would have had so many questions running through my mind as the ax was laid at the foot of the tree in pure obedience without understanding!

But the tree in the water was what was needed. The water cleared up and became sweet and multitudes were able to drink, sustain life, and be refreshed.

Oh if we could understand that the Tree – the cross makes life sweet once again! Even through the many struggles we face each day, the tree (His cross) brings a sweetness into the picture so that we can get through!

When His tree hits our bitter waters, life becomes sweet once again even in the midst of a wilderness.

Immediately following the entrance of the tree into the water, they traveled to an oasis. It won’t last long, for such is life, but for awhile they camped where there were 12 springs of water and had a reprieve.

Take just a moment to rejoice in the power of His cross, the sprinkling of His blood for the cleansing and refreshing of our souls and enjoy the reprieve for a moment resting in His work! Enjoy for it surely will not last long!

May it never be that I would boast, except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. (Galatians 6:14)
Regardless of one’s doctrinal beliefs, it can be agreed upon that the church is not living up to her full potential. I have yet to hear anyone describe the fullness of what that truly looks like, myself included.

There are some things we do know from scripture. For instance, we know that the Body is to work together as one with each joint supplying its own part. (Eph 4:16) We know we are members of one another as we are one body in Christ. (Rom 12:5) We could go on with an elongated list of…
There are some things we do know from scripture. For instance, we know that the Body is to work together as one with each joint supplying its own part. (Eph 4:16) We know we are members of one another as we are one body in Christ. (Rom 12:5) We could go on with an elongated list of who we are and how we are supposed to be functioning. But by using the term the body I am not speaking of your local assembly; I literally mean the entire body of Christ. We do not match the picture of oneness Christ expects.

Will we ever get there? Well, why not? Many things may appear to be impossible, but we know that with God all things are possible.

We use the term restoration sometimes rather loosely, not understanding what it means in its totality. As we begin this revolution (return to origin) the body is going through, restoration will be going on simultaneously. To restore something, many times it must be broken down first.

In this Restoration Revolution, there are nine things that God wants to break down in our common church systems and restore them to what He intended. The nine areas which Holy Spirit showed me:

• The gifts of the Holy Spirit
• Prayerfulness
• Government of God
• Worship
• True honor and respect
• Fellowship
• Selflessness
• Discipline
• Fear of the Lord

There are many aspects to each of the nine topics. I pray Holy Spirit begins to teach us all more thoroughly about each one on individual as well as a corporate level. We cannot go on as His body without them.

Because of excesses in the lives of many leaders, we have thrown some essential things to the wayside. He may have to take some of our modern thoughts, our western thoughts, even our religious thoughts in these fields and break them down so that He can repair each concept. If we are willing, He will bring us back to His intention.

It is time for us to press in to Him more than ever before. We must have a righteousness that is based solely on faith in Christ; it must exceed the righteousness of the Scribes and Pharisees. (Matthew 5:20) They were the religious leaders of their day yet they taught that it was by their prescribed works that one could enter in. Jesus did not follow their religious regime. This greatly frustrated the Pharisees. They asked Jesus why His disciples did not follow their traditions to which Jesus replied that the Pharisees kept their traditions, but not the commandment of God. (Matthew 15:1-9) He repeatedly did things that they deemed illegal to do on the Sabbath.

Please do not get angry with me if I do not follow your religious system. Something has got to change or we will always be the same. Someone said that insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting different results. It is time for the Body of Christ to be the Body, His church. What we have does not look like Him and until we change we won’t.

I desire to be the first to make changes and break the chains by which religion has had me bound! I will be further exploring these topics and sharing thoughts with you as Holy Spirit expounds each one. I welcome your thoughts and comments, and questions as well.

We must be religion free to find true freedom in Christ! Let us press on toward His goals and toward Him and Him alone through faith! May we through His faith and faith in His work on the cross come to the fruition of the Holy Spirit operating in our lives!
There are some troubling things going on in the world around us. They should not be a great surprise since scriptures have warned us about living in the "last days". Personally, I find comfort in knowing He does not change and will never change!
There are some troubling things going on in the world around us. They should not be a great surprise since scriptures have warned us about living in the "last days". Personally, I find comfort in knowing He does not change and will never change!

In Exodus 34:14 Moses told the Children of Israel, "For He is a God who is passionate about His relationship with you." (NLT) Sometimes we don't get it. We can say He loves us and all nod our heads in agreement, but to get the truth that He cannot contain Himself but is passionately pursuing us is beyond our grasp.

The pictures we see of God pursuing man in scriptures cannot be left for the printed page but must be realized in our own lives. Sure He walked with Adam in the garden; sure He sent Christ to pay our price; of course Holy Spirit is in us; and we will all see Christ as He returns at the end of time.

All through Genesis to Revelation He is pursuing His people. But He is still pursuing us past the pages of our Bibles. He is still chasing after the ones He loves - US!

Now we can sing with the sons of Korah, "God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change and though the mountains slip into the heart of the sea..." (Psalm 46)

And with David, "The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the defense of my life whom shall I dread?" He goes on to say in verse 5 of this 27th Psalm, "For in the day of trouble He will conceal me in His tabernacle; in the secret place of His tent He will hide me..."

Sure, we may live in a world experiencing trouble on every hand... but "the Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our stronghold." (Psalm 46:7,11)

Zephaniah 3:17 has become one of my favorite scriptures and how we love to quote it; "He will exult over you with joy, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with shouts of joy."!! It is exciting to think about our God who spins around wildly just because of us!

But now back up to the first of that beloved verse, "The Lord your God is in your midst." He is with us! How awesome is that! No matter what we are facing or going through individually, nationally, world-wide...He is with us!!

Then look at the next phrase because He is not just looking into time from eternity and scratching His head trying to fgure out how it got this way... He is with us A victorious warrior. Get that picture in your head! Zephaniah didn't just see that God was with us, which should be enough in itself; he saw God with us as a victorious warrior. Not just an armor clad warrior, but a victorious warrior; a warriour who saves.

Think about how a warrior who saves, who always wins, reacts to our cry of Hosanna!

Hosanna isn't a wimpy plea for help hoping God will hear and rescue. Hosanna is a determined faith-filled cry for help completely convinced that the God who is capable will deliver.

So do not be afraid O Zion, do not let your hands fall limp, for the Lord your God is in your midst a victorious warrior!

He is with us and He is passionately connected to us! Let us rest in His love!
