Six Keys to Getting Unstuck, Pt. I by D. Clarke

Six Keys to Getting Unstuck Pt. I

by David Anthony Clarke, Sr.

Have you or your organization ever been stuck? To be stuck simply means that there is no movement, no progress, we're seeing the same old same old. There are many who talk about going to the next level. If the truth is told, however, studies show most organizations rarely make it happen.

This month's article is adapted from my upcoming book Are There Any Questions? Great Questions Inquisitive… Continue

How My Ex Almost Ruined My Ministry-David Anthony Clarke

How My Ex Almost Ruined My Ministry

By the time I arrived at Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church of Warner Robins, GA, where I’m currently serving as Senior Pastor, I had twelve years of experience under my belt. I had served conservative, liberal, and fundamental pastors. I had pastored Black and White congregations. I had been a part of small churches and large ones as well. I had served in the north, south, west, and Japan. From trustee to Minister of Music to Youth Minister to… Continue

Leading A Turning Around

Leading a turn around is off da chain...when things are actually turning around. It is not easy, but overwhelmingly rewarding when you know what to look for and know it when you see it.

I see:

1. People trying to work toward the turn around. This is pretty cool. It requires patience because as mistakes are made, they must be dealt with as learning opportunities for them and for me. Even when the level of excellence I desire to see is not there, I have to at least acknowledge… Continue

Is it me or are they just...?

I had a very fruitful meeting with some of my key leaders tonight. There were a number of issues we discussed over a period of two hours. A little longer than I wanted it to last, but its all good. I'm learning a lot about the folks around me. Every now and then, the teacher needs to listen to those he or she is teaching in order to learn how to effectively teach them. Connections are made as we listen, learn, and love enough to keep listening.

One issue that was brought up was my… Continue

Five Leadership “Be’s” from the Resurrection

David Anthony Clarke

As I reflect on the Resurrection of Jesus, I’d like to share five “Be’s” that will make leaders worthy of honor.

1. Be true to your word.

Jesus said He would lay down His life and pick it up again (Jn. 10:17-18). That is exactly what He has done. He was true to His Word.

Say what you mean and mean what you say. Let me add one more thing: give serious thought toward the cost of… Continue

Hancock for President

Hancock for President!

By David Anthony Clarke, Sr.

With the Presidential race getting closer to the finish line, I wanted to share my thoughts on why the United States of America need a President like Hancock. If you saw the movie, you may wonder why in the world I’m recommending a reckless and violent alcoholic who served time in prison to become President of the United States of America. Sounds like he fits the mold to me. Anyway, you can say what you want about Mr. Hancock,… Continue

Life Lessons from the Movie, "Wanted"

Have you seen any good movies lately? I recently saw the movie, Wanted, starring Angelina Jolie and Morgan Freeman. I’ll try not to give the movie away, but it made me reflect on what it takes to live a life of significance. R. C. Sproul, in his book, The Hunger for Significance, says, “We want our lives to count. We yearn to believe that in some way we are important. This inner drive is as intense as our need for water and oxygen.”

A life of significance is to acknowledge your worth… Continue

By David Anthony Clarke, Sr.

1. Thou shalt not taketh thy job for granted

People are being put out of work every day. For example, the largest bank in the nation by assets, Citigroup, is projecting to cut 4200 jobs by the end of this year.

Don't take your job for… Continue

He was born one of four children in Jackson, Michigan in 1955. As early as 14 years old, his accomplishments as a high school athlete were featured in Sports Illustrated. I Was Prepared For This, Pt. II

Have you ever seen the Today show when they showcase birthdays of folks 100+ years old? They'll show folks like Mrs. Tessie Sue Mabellene McGillicuddy of Billarickatickaville, VA at 114 years old. Anyway, that segment is sponsored by Smuckers, the jelly folks, and their slogan is, "With a name like Smuckers, you know it's good."

The Scripture we looked at last month, II Sam. 5:17-25, shows David in a serious… Continue

Things Went Well In Albany, GA

We hosted our first leadership seminar in Albany this past Saturday, Mar. 1st. Transitioning minsitries, businesses, etc. can be very frustrating. The seminar focused on how to make these transitions and alleviate the frustrations by aggressively investing in our own personal transformation.

We taught for a little over three hours dealing with how leaders need to aggressively invest in their own personal development instead of treating it as something we do if we have time. When the… Continue

Destiny & Flesh

You cannot walk into God's ordained destiny for your life without putting your flesh in check. There are too many people who are being elevated and falling because they don't check their flesh. I am not perfect and I do not want to sound self-righteous. I'm just determined to become and accomplish all God has ordained for my life and I wanna help others do the same. If you really want God to prosper your life, you must put your flesh under subjection. Control your sexual desires, your anger,… Continue

God is Good!!!

God is good. I can list a number of reasons why I say that. But, let me just say that worship was off the chain today. I sensed in my spirit most of this past week that the Lord wanted to do something different and that it would require our doing something different. We did. He did. It was awesome. People were weeping. There were breakthroughs and convictions. I am very, very grateful to be where I am and see what I am seeing. God is good.

We truly worshipped today. I'm not talking…

Know When To P--- People Off

The Leadership Secrets of Colin Powell has a very intersting chapter entitled, Know When to Piss People Off. I'm loving it!!! Powell, the unfailingly polite gentleman and team player talks about change. He says, "Changing things inevitably makes some peole upset-even angry." He goes on to say, "Good leaders defy conventional wisdom. They constantly prod their people with 'what if?' and 'why not?' questions. They engender a climate of let's -try-it experimentation, demand innovative…

New Church Plant?

I met with some folks from Living Water last night. We kicked it off with Bible study and led into a discussion as to what they desired for their lives and how being a part of the church fit into it. Later, I asked each what they wanted for their church. They all virtually said the same thing, a pastor. Duhh...

Long story short: I laid out what all I could bring to the table. I could either be "pulpit supply" and only preach and teach there and nothing else. Or, I could…

Living Water Church

Well,

I started ministering at Living Water Church yesterday morning. This is a church planted by my friend, Michael Chambers. The worship experience blew me away. I mean, it was quite an experience.

I still pastor Union Grove, which is a full-time pastorate. I was at Living Water at 9 a.m. and then went to the Grove Zone afterward. I got to the Grove at around 10:40 and preached there.

What is dominating my thinking is simply a curiosity as to what the Lord is up to. As…
