Same Question, Same Answer; Different Time
“Why do the nations assemble with commotion [uproar and confusion of voices], and why do the people imagine (meditate upon and devise) an empty scheme? —Psalm 2:1 (Amplified)
This same question can be asked today because “mainstream” society (new term for the ‘world’) with its kings and rulers are plotting against the Kingdom of God (the rule of God- His way of doing things). Basically, they oppose the laws of God, and mock biblical principles that command a lifestyle of obedience to Christ.
It’s obvious that there is a counsel determined to legislate laws that condone unrighteousness and injustice. This counsel promotes living without restraints. They endorse laws that encourage self-centeredness and self-gratification. The kings and rulers themselves are lovers of money and aroused by an inordinate (greedy) desire for material things to satisfy their soul’s discontentment. Therefore, their counsel gives allegiance to the proud, arrogant and contemptuous boasters of immorality, abusers, disobedient, ungrateful, and profane people.
We are now living in “perilous” times. Our society has become callous, inhuman, relentless, slanderous, intemperate, haters of good, and anything that resembles Christianity. Many are treacherous, and inflated with self-conceit. They are lovers of sensual pleasures and vain amusements. Oh, don’t forget they can perpetrate religious piety, but they deny and reject the power of it. How? Their conduct belies the genuineness of their profession (II Timothy 3:1-5, Amplified).
But there is an appointed time when the plan and purposes of God will prevail! Just as the psalmist made this prophetic declaration of the coronation of Christ, King of Glory, and it came to pass, the declaration of His reign as Lord must continue. Therefore, I declare the decree of the LORD, that Jesus the Christ is the King of glory. He is the only begotten Son of God the Father. He reigns, and at the appointed time He shall judge. He shall speak to those who avail themselves to principalities and powers of darkness to oppose Him in the earth. He shall speak to them in His wrath , and distress them in His deep displeasure (Ps. 2:5), and of course, their evil counsel will not succeed. In other words, whatever nations the Son has asked the Father for has been granted. The ends of the earth are His possession. And, whatever has to happen to bring to pass the decree of the Lord shall be accomplished. (“You shall break them with a rod of iron; You shall dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel,” Ps.2:9).
Today is the acceptable time of the Lord. Now is the time to say “yes” to His will and live in obedience to His word. As representatives and ambassadors for Christ our plea is that the kings of the earth be wise and the rulers (judges) of the earth are instructed. Herein is wisdom and instruction: “Serve the Lord with reverent awe and worshipful fear; rejoice and be in high spirits with trembling [lest you displease Him]. Kiss the Son! In other words, submit to Jesus Christ as Lord. Worship Him as the Son of God with a pure heart so that you will not be destroyed (Ps. 2:10-12).
There are benefits for be being a part of God’s kingdom. The psalmist says, “Blessed (happy, fortunate, and to be envied) are all those who seek refuge and put their trust in Him (Ps. 2:12 Amp.)
No one can fight against God and win. Kings, judges and rulers may take counsel, but, ultimately the plan and purposes of God will prevail. It’s ludicrous to oppose the One Who has ALL power over heaven and earth—it’s an empty scheme and a vain plot. It just won’t work! Yet, how many will suffer because of these evil schemes?
I am convinced that there is a remnant committed to advancing the Kingdom of God, and nothing can stop them! If God is for you, who can be against you? [who can be your foe, if God is on your side?] This radical remnant is PRAYING, “Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” Praise God! I’m one of them. Are you?
