There are some troubling things going on in the world around us. They should not be a great surprise since scriptures have warned us about living in the "last days". Personally, I find comfort in knowing He does not change and will never change!

In Exodus 34:14 Moses told the Children of Israel, "For He is a God who is passionate about His relationship with you." (NLT) Sometimes we don't get it. We can say He loves us and all nod our heads in agreement, but to get the truth that He cannot contain Himself but is passionately pursuing us is beyond our grasp.

The pictures we see of God pursuing man in scriptures cannot be left for the printed page but must be realized in our own lives. Sure He walked with Adam in the garden; sure He sent Christ to pay our price; of course Holy Spirit is in us; and we will all see Christ as He returns at the end of time.

All through Genesis to Revelation He is pursuing His people. But He is still pursuing us past the pages of our Bibles. He is still chasing after the ones He loves - US!

Now we can sing with the sons of Korah, "God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change and though the mountains slip into the heart of the sea..." (Psalm 46)

And with David, "The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the defense of my life whom shall I dread?" He goes on to say in verse 5 of this 27th Psalm, "For in the day of trouble He will conceal me in His tabernacle; in the secret place of His tent He will hide me..."

Sure, we may live in a world experiencing trouble on every hand... but "the Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our stronghold." (Psalm 46:7,11)

Zephaniah 3:17 has become one of my favorite scriptures and how we love to quote it; "He will exult over you with joy, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with shouts of joy."!! It is exciting to think about our God who spins around wildly just because of us!

But now back up to the first of that beloved verse, "The Lord your God is in your midst." He is with us! How awesome is that! No matter what we are facing or going through individually, nationally, world-wide...He is with us!!

Then look at the next phrase because He is not just looking into time from eternity and scratching His head trying to fgure out how it got this way... He is with us A victorious warrior. Get that picture in your head! Zephaniah didn't just see that God was with us, which should be enough in itself; he saw God with us as a victorious warrior. Not just an armor clad warrior, but a victorious warrior; a warriour who saves.

Think about how a warrior who saves, who always wins, reacts to our cry of Hosanna!

Hosanna isn't a wimpy plea for help hoping God will hear and rescue. Hosanna is a determined faith-filled cry for help completely convinced that the God who is capable will deliver.

So do not be afraid O Zion, do not let your hands fall limp, for the Lord your God is in your midst a victorious warrior!

He is with us and He is passionately connected to us! Let us rest in His love!
