1 Samuel 13:5-8

And the Philistines gathered themselves together to fight with Israel, thirty thousand chariots, and six thousand horsemen, and people as the sand which is on the sea shore in multitude: and they came up, and pitched in Michmash, eastward from Bethaven.

When the men of Israel saw that they were in a strait, (for the people were distressed,) then the people did hide themselves in caves, and in thickets, and in rocks, and in high places, and in pits.

And some of the Hebrews went over Jordan to the land of Gad and Gilead. As for Saul, he was yet in Gilgal, and all the people followed him trembling.

And he tarried seven days, according to the set time that Samuel had appointed: but Samuel came not to Gilgal; and the people were scattered from him.

We cannot even conceive the notion or even comprehend the impact that the 30,000 chariots had on the Israel. There was fear in the air, panic in there hearts. The people began to hid in the caves, in the thickets, pits, cellars and cliffs. Some of them even fled the land and crossed the Jordan. The one's that stayed remain brave but yet the bible says they were trembling. It was a frightened situation for all of the people of Israel. So the people began to look to Saul for answers he knew and felt in his heart that he had to do something. So he sought the Lord for the answer. He waited seven days, according to the appointed time set by Samuel but there was no Samuel because he had not arrived. Panic was spreading and the people was scattering.

With the heat on Saul decided he couldn't, he couldn't wait any longer so he decided to make a burnt offering himself. What happens when we don't wait on God, its just like stepping out of the boat too soon when you do that you sink. But as soon as Saul did that finishing up the offering lo and behold Samuel shows up and tells Saul that he failed the test. He says to him You have acted foolishly; you have not kept the commandment of the Lord your God. Oh my Saul has shown that he was not a man after God heart. God needs people who understands his Word and what it means. Who will not reinterpret his Words in every situation and can be patience and dedicated to wait for His timing. God wants us to believe and trust in Him even when the circumstances don't look good. So today I ask you not to give on hope, but keep believing in God no matter what problems you may face. Seek his wisdom and direction. Obedient is better than sacrifice along with the Word of God.
