History of Saving Power Ministries

Hey Everyone!

I am pretty new to the preaching world, but I have known that God has had a calling on my life since I was a kid. My grandma use to take me to church with her all the time. At the time we attended a baptist church by the name of Holy Cross. Unlike most baptist churches, this baptist church knew how to have church. I can't truly remember every detail, but I can remember the time my grandma was hit by the Holy Ghost. Back then the Ushers were on there jobs, so they came rushing over to us and moved all the kids out the way!!! I didn't know what it was back then, but now I do!!! lol!

When our Late Pastor Rueben Thigpen (actress, Lynn Thigpen's uncle) died one of the eldest Associate Pastors, Reverend Eddie Pierce, lost an church held election to become the next pastor. So, after about a couple of months, Reverend Eddie Pierce felt the need to move on to another calling. Rev. Pierce was asked to become the first Pastor of the Saving Power M.B. Church in Joliet. Only after explaining to those the sincerity in starting and leading a church did he accept the position. Reverend Pierce was installed as the Pastor of Saving Power in 1997.

Since the beginning of its history, Saving Power has had many hard times. Even with the hard times we've had we have had the death of one member, one of the original founders, Brother Joe Jessup. Now in its 11th year, Saving Power M.B. Church is still thriving. After being led by God, Pastor and First Lady Pierce had dropped the "Missionary Baptist" title in our name and renamed it Saving Power Church Ministries. With the name change, we declare and decree that no tradition or stereotype can hold us back. We are a Bible Teaching and Holy Ghost Tongue Talking ministry who is not ashamed to PRAISE & WORSHIP God!!!
