ACTIVATING THE HOLY GHOST POWER

“But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.” (Acts 1:8)

Sometimes when people pray, they expect the power of God to come down from heaven and change their situation. However, the truth is that the day you received the Holy Spirit, you received the power of God into your spirit and that power is capable of changing anything!

In Acts 1:8, the Lord Jesus said, “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you...” This shows us that with the infilling of the Holy Ghost comes the power of God. This means that for the child of God who has received the Holy Ghost, the power of God is not anywhere in the world but inside him!

Now, in 1 Corinthians 14:4, the Bible tells us something very instructive: “He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself;” Some of the synonyms for the word “edifieth” used here are “embolden” and “to charge up”. In other words, the one that speaks in tongues charges up himself; he stirs up the power of God that is in him.

This shows us that you have the responsibility to activate the power of God in you. Though you have all of God's power inside you, you still have the responsibility to activate it and cause it to produce results in your life! Speaking in tongues is the first and best way to do that.

When you activate the power of God in you this way, the whole world becomes small to you. The glory of God will be revealed in you, and strength will come to you. At such times, there will be no challenge big enough to overwhelm you; you will eat the challenge as bread!

There may be a situation in your life right now that has challenged your faith, it might be your health or finances. I encourage you today to speak in tongues earnestly. Have specific times every day when you spend quality time speaking in tongues. The Bible says, “Let God arise, let his enemies be scattered...” (Psalms 68:1). The power of God will rise within you, and overwhelm that situation!
