I think it is easy to be soft, easy to let go, easy to not care, easy not to accept responsibility and not be held accountable, easy not to be a man. But is that what anyone wants? I don't think so. It is hard to be tough, determined and tenacious; it is hard to hold on no matter what; it is hard to care, because that means you get involved and do something about the situation; it is hard to accept the responsibility, especially when there is a risk that things will go wrong, so very wrong; it is hard to be held accountable not only for your welfare and well-being but for that of your entire family; it is so hard to be a man; but it so fulfilling.

An excerpt from my book, I Do, states, "There is so much more to life than just existing. There's so much more to have than what we see. Oh, when our soul's on fire and when our spirit is soaring higher; that's when we're living life abundantly." There is a reward to a man's spirit for being a strong man. With it comes a sense of purpose and a sense of accomplishment. Everything is put on the line, but there is a reward immeasureable that comes from it.

Look beyond the pain, look beyond the struggle, look beyond the cross to see the joy. The vision of the joy empowers you to endure. Just like Martin Luther King Jr. went to the mountaintop, just like he had a dream, each one of us must have that same experience to build a fire in us that will not be put out. Don't cower, don't sit, don't stand still, keep moving forward: we'll get there; cause even if you don't get there with us, you know that your efforts will help us get to the finish line.
