BEING FRIEND OF GOD - Adam Where Art Thou?
I have come realized that there is certain particular time of the morning, that God loves to pour his understanding into my mind. Even though my plan was to get up at 6:45 this morning, I was awake around early 6am, but lay in behind trying to get some more minutes of sleep in, before my alarm goes off, lol.
Unknown to me that it was time, for God to have a discussion with me his best friend forever, lol. This was not the first time this has happened, but I now see that it is a pattern I need to be aware of.
The word that my friend, God was pouring into my mind was about friendship. I was made aware that, one of the reason why God actually created Adam was to have someone to play, chit chat, jest, walk around and have a good time together with. The bible says, in the book of Genesis chapter 3, that, "At the cool of the day...", meaning the day was cool and the burning sun as gone has already set down. In our time, this will be like the evenings when adults and children play outside. The adults are stretching their feet on the porch talking with one another or under the shade play chess or checkers. Children running around in the field, playing with each other in harmony. This was when God came to the Garden to visit Adam his friend. But when he got to the garden, he couldn't find his friend Adam. Adam was no where to be found.
Have you ever had a friend that you always meet together to play games or do things in common together, you have got used to him or her. Then all of a sudden, your friend left town without telling you. And you were there at your meeting place where you normally have fun together, in the field, all alone by yourself. You were worried what happened to your friend, what went wrong, why is he not there with you? where did he go?
God yelled out in the Garden in agony, "Adam where art thou!" finally Adam came out of his hidden place ashamed and with guilt. He said, I have hidden myself because I was naked. Now another pain in the heart of his friend God.. How did you know you were naked? Did you eat of the fruit that you promised me you will never touch or eat from? A betrayer, lack of trustworthiness, unable to keep promise and disloyalty sets in.
Imagine having a friend that knows about your dirty laundry, your nakedness, you both know what you look like naked even when you closed your eyes, you share same locker room in the gym, fart at each other without making a fuss. All of a sudden, that friend stop to hang out with you and he or she now start closing the door behind, so you will not see them in nakedness again. Something has changed. A betrayer has come into the relationship.
But Yet! Even despite Adam sinfulness, he was still able to hear his friend God. The communication line was never cut off! But, there is another voice now that Adam has acknowledge to listen to, and that is the voice of his wife and that of the serpent (the devil). And God being a jealous God, He can not allow that to happen. You are only allowed in his click of friends when you have chose to listen to his voice and only obeys what he tells you.
And one of the things that pains God mostly is the fact that, Adam share a spiritual connection with God. The breathe of God lives within Adam and their souls and mind has same connection. They are connected spiritually, they understand each other in the Spirit. When you understand someone in the Spirit or share same spiritual connection in your mind and body, even before the person opens their mouth to say a word, you already know what they are about to say. It will be like a marriage in the Spirit.
Till today God is still searching for those whom He will make friends, because they will only listen to him and do something that only friends promised themselves to do, not what will break them apart.
God said in the Book of Genesis 18 about Abraham his friend.
Verse 17 “Should I hide my plan from Abraham?” the Lord asked. 18 “For Abraham will certainly become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth will be blessed through him.
Just like Abraham, if you become a friend of God, God will make you someone he has to seek his or her second thought or make aware of HIS ROYAL PLANS , before carrying that plan out. You will become a man that intercede for other people not to be condemned, because you have a voice that God will listen to. You will negotiate with God in a deal when you are his friend. What God couldn't find in Adam, he was able to find in Abraham and in you.
You and I were that nations that came out of Abraham. Our forefather Abraham was a Friend of God and so are we. Only if we could follow the way Abraham was able to listen and become God's Friend.
Isaiah 41:8 But you, Israel, my servant, Jacob, whom I have chosen, offspring of Abraham my friend--
I hope you will create time in a day when you can sit and have a heart to heart dialogue with your best friend forever, God.
