What does it take to lead the people toward conviction of sin so that the Holy Spirit can continue to work with them. Many people are convicted because of some problem or need that they are having that requires immediate attention. Does convincing the other people, that are not need driven, that they are breaking the laws of God work? Romans 3:23 says "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Romans 3:19 says " Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world held accountable to God. 20 Therefore no one will be declared righteous in his sight by observing the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of sin."

Many people in the world today feel that they are good. How can we make them conscious of their sin? Can we use the law? My own earthly father felt that he just needed to be a good person. The world's definition of good and our eternal father's definition of good are two different things. Are some people forgetful that they were born in sin, have broken the law and need redemption? Maybe some are just not fully aware of the law and that they have transgressed it. Could we begin to convict the average person based on the Ten Commandments? In our day and time if you were to ask an average person on the street to name the Ten Commandments most of them would not be able to do that. Now if you ask the average person if they are good they say yes. They believe by earthly standards that they are good.

Suppose you were to ask them if they ever broke any of the Ten Commandments? What if you ask them if they ever told a lie? Most people would readily admit that they told a lie. If they say no they never told a lie even in childhood then thats a lie right there. How many lies does it take to be classified as a liar? Only one right. Ray Comfort's book "The Way of the Master" does speak about a method of conviction using the Ten Commandments. The book shows methods of conviction using simple questions that help people understand the sinful condition they are in. What are some of the methods that you find useful in convicting people with the Holy Spirit's aid? Would anyone like to share?
