Hebrews 12:14 Holiness.....
Hebrews 12:14 Reads:
Follow Peace with all men and Holiness without which no man shall see the Lord.
Most of us that have a rich pentecostal background know and have heard this all of our lives; God has been dealing with me with regard to the application of this scripture. I have heard it preached to strip us and dress us up; when I look around I see the women with no make up on,head coverings and the men dressed as it was called becoming holiness. I also witnessed the word being preached in such a dogmatic, self rightous way that made our Holiness the only Holiness and everybody else was going to hell. That spirit would come across the pulpit fighting, it would come across in our feeble attempts to witness and we were proud because we were HOLY. Ineffective but Proud!
Hebrews 12:14 is two fold it instructs us to Follow Peace with all men...AND holiness, holiness is in conjunction with following peace. If we are serving the Prince of peace that peace is resident within the believer; Galaitions 5:22 The fruit of the spirit (the fruit of the Holy Ghost) is not shouting, speaking in tongues or miracles. The Fruit of the Spirit is Love Joy PEACE, longsuffering gentleness goodness and faith. The fruit of a tree declares what kind of tree it is. Jesus said by their Fruit you shall know them. What kind of tree are you? your fruit declares you. We have the words in order, we have the rituals in order our worship is in order but the fruit declares us. We fight and devour one another with that weapon in your mouth. We seperate ourselves from each other over the doctrines of men and think we are on our way to heaven. There are going to be people in heaven that you didnt think would be there, and people will be missing that you just knew would be there because in the end their fruit declared them. Follow Peace....in your home, Follow peace in your church, follow peace every where you go because in the end your fruit will declare you.
