Human Life is a Gift’s gift

Job 1:21 King James Version

21. And said, Naked came I out of my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return thither: the Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away: blessed be the name of the Lord.

God not only gives life, God give us the things that are necessary for us to maintain that life He has give us.

The sun for light Jer. 31:25 plants (Gen 1:29) animals for food (Gen 9:3); water (Num.21:16); clothing (Gen. 28:20), grass for herbs (Deut 11:15); seasonal rains for crops (Lev 26:4); companionship of male and female (Gen 2:18-24); the ability to have children (Gen17:16) and sleep (Ps.127:2).

Even various human abilities are like wise gifts given to us by God.

1. The ability to work (Deut.2:3)
2. Artistic ability (Ex. 31:6)
3. The ability to acquire learning, and master communication skills.

Gifts that God gives us are gifts, which demonstrate God general providence

(Dan.1:17)

17 As for these four children, God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom: and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.

Then there are scriptures, which also witnesses to God’s gift as special providence. In the Old Testament, such gifts include the promise land.

Gen 12:7KJV

7. 7 And the LORD appeared unto Abram, and said, Unto thy seed will I give this land: and there builded he an altar unto the LORD, who appeared unto him.

This Gift included these gifts.

1. Successful conquest (Deut.2:36)
2. It is spoils would be included (Deut. 20:14)
3. The possessing of its cities (Duet 6:10)
4. The Sabbath (Ex. 16:29)
5. The promises (I King 8:56)
6. The covenants (2King 17:15)
7. The Law (Ex.24:12)
8. Peace (Lev.26:6)

In the New Testament God’s special providence is in the evident of the greatest gift to mankind, His son Jesus.

John 3:16-17 KJV

16 For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

God’s gift the Holy Spirit

Luke 11:13KJV

13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?

These are the gifts of the Gift.
