Humpty Dumpty Sat on The Wall- Inspired by God to Araminta Holt

"Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall,
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall.

And all the king's men,
Couldn't put Humpty together again"

I reckon that the vast majority of you reading this are familiar with the tale of humpty dumpty. As a kid, this was perhaps my favorite jingle. Lately I was thinking about humpty dumpty in an entirely new light. The terminology of "the watchmen" has of course, both a natural and a spiritual implication. As you may have heard said "First the natural and then the spiritual".... In the case of the watchmen, consider the natural role of the watchmen. Watchmen were those who would overlook from either a citadel of some sort, a watch-tower, or atop the Kings palace. These were people responsible for gazing into the distance, being able to identify the threat of a potential enemy invasion. Watchmen work as a team, the watch towers of the king were occupied by many watchmen all of which who had a different area to survey and observe. Meaning some looked out to the East, some to the West, the North, and the South. Watchmen function as a team, with 1 objective to report what they see to the governmental authority who sit in the city gates. Watchmen historically speaking, usually soldiers, but could not attack, without strict orders to do so.

I begin to think about the spiritual role of the watchmen, and of course this subject could be studied in incredible depths, but I'd like to briefly focus upon the holy vocation of the intercessors. As prayer watchmen, people of God who've been given divine privilege to take an assigned post as intercessors with Christ in heavenly realms, we must understand what our role is. It seems to me, that whenever you see a great flood of iniquity sweeping over a nation, it's due largely in part because the righteous intercessors have become an endangered species. This is most clearly demonstrated in the story of Sodom and Gomorrah, where God agrees to release mercy if but a few good men could be found. Tragically, not even 10 righteous men could be found. As a result the Justice of God was demonstrated and the wicked were destroyed. Conversely we see that throughout church history, floods of God's glory and grace overcome geographic regions when the unified bride of Christ comes together in the place prayer as intercessors, declaring the very word of God in the hour to the people. When prophets arise and speak with authority, the things revealed in the counsels of God, the reality of the society begins to change. Prisons depopulate, bars and taverns shut down, families are healed, sexual immorality declines. This is what happens when the watchmen, look out over the spiritual landscape see the enemy coming in like a flood, and beckon the father of Glory to release mercy and the grace for repentance. This is the manifestation of the splendid healing upon the land, that is promised in 2 Chronicles 7:14.

Today in America, we are living in what I believe is the who knows hour, it's a moment in history, where the prophetic destiny of our nation is violently swinging in the balance, reacting as a pendulum does with a direct correlation to the activity and obedience of the watchmen, as contenders and those who are obligated to advance the Kingdom of almighty God by laying down our lives. I truly believe that we are standing of the very cusp of revival, yet we stand as cliffhangers on the edge of the abyss. We are in what Joel 3:14 calls " the valley of decision". In this same passage, we find that prophetically a day is coming, that I believe we are actually in the midst of, that just prior to the coming of the Lord, multitudes would be gathered in this valley. So the question remains, where are the watchmen, where are those who've been positioned by God himself in a royal habitation of authority, who've been given the same power and authority as Christ himself? I believe that in this hour there are 3 realities which have collided and in essence, it's as if there's a trilateral game of tug of war going on fighting, for the liberation of a generation. Ideally we would all be on one side of the rope, but instead, the church is divided against itself and is having a tough time standing. The 1st division are the watchmen who are just like humpty-dumpty, those who have fallen off the wall, by allowing the spirit of this age to lull them to sleep so that they have indeed fallen off. Included in this group are those that have allowed spiritual gluttony to make them spiritually obese, where apathy and lethargy have set in. These have fallen off because they have exceeded the weight limit. the 2nd group, I believe, are the watchmen who are indeed posted on the wall, but are blind... they have lost all spiritual insight, they have no hunger for the word, they have no desire for the glory, and so they sit in the position with a title and a calling, but are mostly deceived because they have lost their sight, sin has crept into their lives and caused the fire of the Holy Spirit to be quenched. These are the people who know all the "prayer stuff, can quote the latest quote, regurgitate the latest prophecy, whose bibles are filled with a myriad of highlights, but have virtually a 0% reality of prayer in their own lives. These are the people who stand atop the platforms in many churches and declare false visions, completely devoid of the experiential knowledge of God, and unaware of the spiritual darkness that looms over the land, because they themselves have been blinded by that very darkness.

Matthew 6:22-23 says " 22 "The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are good, your whole body will be full of light. 23 But if your eyes are bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!

Lastly, the 3rd group are the watchmen who've been called, to stand in the gap on behalf of lost humanity, to urge men toward regeneration and reconciliation, but have not answered the call. This is the group of people who God has awakened in the middle of the night and called you to pray, but you went back to sleep. This is the group who the Lord has called to start prayer meetings and to attend prayer meetings, but they have allowed fear to grip their hearts and choke the life of God out of them. This is the group who have lost their 1st love, grown weary in well-doing, and are likely candidates for deception as well.

So to sum it all up, let us not be like humpty dumpty... falling off the wall as watchmen, but let us sit perched as eagles, waiting on Zion's deliverance, who hasten the return of the King. In addition to watching out for threats, as watchmen we've been called to look up for the redemption that draws near, to identify the signs of the times, to pray with a prophetic understanding, to warn the people that the great enemy is not satan, but God. Sounds strange, but Satan will be bound and thrown into the everlasting fire. The enemies of God are those who have rejected His son, who refuse to repent. As watchmen, let us not make ourselves enemies of God, but obey, engage His heart of true love and justice against everything that hinders TRUE LOVE. All forms of sin, no matter how well intentioned a person may be in their deception. Jesus is the answer and the only one found worthy to release the Judgment of God. So I pray that all of us would find His mercy, and agree with His word, keep our eyes open, that the literal light of our Father's everlasting truth would flood our inner man, that we as the body of Christ would partner with the King of everlasting mercy and declare to our generation that the invitation for mercy has been given, the grace of God has indeed appeared to all men, the payment for sin has been made, because Jesus conquered the grave. So while this window is open, let the watchmen open up their eyes and lay hold of the promise of His appearing.
