“These people make a big show of saying the right thing, but their heart isn't in it. They act like they're worshiping me, but they don't mean it. They just use me as a cover for teaching whatever suits their fancy." Matt 15:8-9 (The MSG)

Hypocrisy begets sycophancy and in turn elevates “eye service”. These negative features were the battle the church is facing today.
Come to think of it, all the people that professes to be Christians, Pastors, Bishops, Rev Dr, Apostles etc. that preaches good sermon as if the Lord Jesus will appear tomorrow and their character is far away from their messages, what are they? Hypocrite.
Vs 8- “These people make a BIG SHOW of saying the right thing, but their HEART isn’t in it” in their preaching, it is a big show. That is, a drama kind of doing thing, telling your audience what you are not. Does it mean all our today preachers are just reaching out to the pulpit and not the pews? The journey to heaven no longer seems to be important, but the position we occupied.
Let us take note that hypocrisy is not of God but of the religious bigots. Who has no understanding of things of the kingdom, but solely concerned about their fore fathers position in the church; Position will perish, title will be drown but your soul will remains for eternity either Hell or Heaven.
If these reflect some of people’s actions in church today, what then happened to the circumcised heart?
When you professed to be Christian, your testimonies becomes “old things are passed away, behold everything becomes new” then where does hypocrisy emerged from? Or you just were telling people that to make a BIG SHOW?
Let everyone us know that, what man eats does not defiled him, but what comes out of the man. If all your utterances and action could be termed as hypocrisy…… watch it; the focus of Heaven is then being drifted away little by little.
Vs 9 – They act like they are worshiping me, but they don’t mean it.
These really explained the present actions of leaders in some denominations, where they tend to show to people that they are worshiping God and committed to his service with gun in the inner pocket of their suit. Whom are you deceiving man or God. They profess to be fighting the cause of the gospel, but every action shows that it for self exaltation. Position, title has now become what they kill one another for, in the House of God. Hypocrisy is deadly weapon that the devil is using today, and it is unfortunate that many Christians and Leaders are not sensitive to it. The devil is no longer using fornication and adultery but position, title, popularity and hypocrisy.
“Let him that thinks he stand, take heed lets he fall”. It is obvious that majority of our Christian leaders are been apprehended for one sin or the other. Even when Paul the Apostle admonished us that; “such should not even be mentioned among you” they have left Jesus behind in Jerusalem – Luke 2:41ff
Hypocrisy is a terrible phenomenon in the church today, a place where it should not be mentioned. People can no longer express their true colour among their fellow brethren. It is the Spirit of God that will help faithful believers to reject this unfortunate trend in our churches.
As you go through this piece of advice, can you go back to Jerusalem where you left Jesus; He is waiting for you there to come back to him. You cannot afford to lose heaven because you are craving for earthly position or titles that will soon fade away.
Go back to him and start a new cause of the Kingdom of God which is your primary assignment here on earth; it does not matter to Him what people are saying about you, His concern is that you must not miss Eternity in Heaven because of the ephemeral things.
Can all of us, as Sons and daughters of God rise up and fight these deadly weapons of Satan in our denominations? The Spirit of God shall strengthen us at the battle front.
Jesus is waiting for you at very point where you left him. “When they didn't find him, they went back to Jerusalem looking for him. The next day they found him in the Temple….. Luke 2:45-46(The MSG)
Shalom.
