It pains me to say it, but the question you asked contains it own answer. The men and women who transgress in the manner you have identified are, in truth, wolves in sheep's clothing. It is that fact alone that answers your lament.

What do we do about it is another matter.

We need to let folks know that there are true assemblies out there who represent Christ to the world and who demonstrate the truth of their message by the love they have for one another. (1Cor 13). That they use their gifts and abilities to help one another, not to take advantage of one another (!Cor 12).

And, it is way past time that would be teachers start to learn the true spiritual principles that Jesus taught in Matthew 5, 6, & 7and begin to apply them to their own lives first, and then teach them to the congregation.

Finally, those who are in positions of spiritual leadership need to take the God given authority they have been trusted with and take a bold stand against the wickedness in the church, even as Paul confronted Peter in his error. Therefore, be it known among all men, no one is above the Law (the Scriptures), especially the teachers.
