II CORITHIANS 10:3-5
Lay Your AX to the Root of the Tree
I cannot emphasize strongly enough that only in a spiritual relationship, developed through prayer, will you gain the true power to lay your ax to the root of the tree and steadfastly destroy the works of Satan and be fruitful for God. Spiritual victories are won in the prayer closet with the kind of prayer that moves the heart of God, moves the course of nations, and presses past defensive lines and on into breakthroughs with God. This all springs from your spiritual relationship with God by spending time with Him in your prayer closet.
The heat of the battle is no place to start praying. We should have already prayed through before we got there. We should be ready for battle filled with the Holy Ghost, filled with His power, filled and overflowing. We should know before we are in the heat of the battle that the victory is already won. How? God reveals it to us in our spiritual relationship with Him (Glory to God).
Look at Nehemiah, Moses and David. Look at Paul and every other great person in the Bible. There isn’t one of them who did not have this spiritual relationship with God. There wasn’t one of them, once he had accepted God’s challenge for his life, who did not know with deep assurance that God would pull him through. These men were not operating in “blind faith” They were operating in the faith of someone they knew. And through long hours, days and years of meeting one to one with God in their prayer closets, God had promised them the victory.
These men had one thing in common. It was not a great works, or prestige, or blind obedience. It was a relationship with the Almighty. This relationship sustained them through great travail in the prayer closet, through superhuman wrestlings with the powers of darkness. These victories which changed the course of mankind were won because of their relationship. This is a relationship rooted in total trust and confidence in God; a complete reliance on God’s promises, His strength, and His law. This is the kind of relationship of power that will turn this world around for Christ and truly allow us to work the works of God.
You too must learn to pierce through the surface excuses of any problem from persecution to youth rebellion, from disease to broken homes. You must do this by breaking through all the superficial appearances to get to the root causes. You must face the enemy standing up, destroying all his power in your life and in the lives around you. You must go beyond the surface with intercession. You must travail in prayer in the Holy Spirit, and lay hold of things at the root cause. The surface problems will take care of themselves and the victory will blossom when you lay the ax to the root of the tree.
Holiness, righteousness, faithfulness, obedience and prayer is the key to walking in the Authority God has given us. PLEASE LAY YOUR AX TO THE TREE, THE TIME IS NOW!
