But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light: 1Peter 2:9

Viewing our heritage from the natural side of mankind:
Being a descendant of Black African Americans I along with others celebrate our heritage as well as our culture. There are many Americans here in the United States and some are abroad. But we are all Americans, The United States of America is a multicultural Nation. Whether you are a Black African American, Hispanic American, Italian American, Irish American, German American, Japanese American, Jewish American, English American, Chinese American, etc..., we are all of the Nation of America, which makes us Americans.

What identifies our origin and impacts our lives is our culture. We should embrace the many cultures of our Nation for they should be shared and not feared, respected and not rejected. Let us learn from one another and as a result our Nation could and would be greatly blessed.

Viewing our heritage from the spiritual side:
We are a Holy Nation because we are the people of God; which had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy. Because our culture is different people find us strange, different, unusual, you might even say peculiar. We come from vast regions of this world and many different ethnic backgrounds. The precious blood that Jesus Christ shed for us has redeemed us from sin - we have been blood bought. Now we have experienced the new birth - being born of the water and of the Spirit, and now we are unified because we know who we are and whose we are. God has chosen us to be His people. We are the King's kid, we are heirs and joint-heirs, we are a Royal Nation. I encourage you to embrace and celebrate your Holy Heritage. We are a Holy Nation.

Blessings,
Pastor Cheryl R. Smith
