HEAVY LOAD

“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you'll recover your life. I'll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won't lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you'll learn to live freely and lightly." Matthew 11:30 (The Message Bible)

Have you ever felt so burdened that you literally felt heavy? Almost as if you could barely lift your arms above your head? Do you feel as if there is no place that you can get relief? There’s nobody to trust—nobody to turn to?

There is a song from the 1975 Broadway musical, “The Wiz,” entitled “Ease On Down The Road.” The chorus of that song says “…don’t you carry nothin’ that might be a load…” That is great advice for anyone who is feeling heavy in their spirit today. Don’t you carry NOTHIN’ that is going to weigh you down!!! Not your finances, not the report from the doctor, not your family, not the job—NOTHIN’!!!

There is a rhythm of grace that the Father wants you to get in step with. We have a tendency to lose touch with the very thing that will bring us comfort—God’s mercy!! You may think you’re losing your mind, but you’re not. This set back is only temporary. Don’t give in and definitely don’t give up. You are only a step away from your breakthrough. You’ve come too far to turn back now. Another one of the lines of that song says:

“…the road you're walking might be long sometimes
You just keep on stepping and you'll be just fine.”

Stepping to my breakthrough, I remain,

Pastor Kathy
