People of GOD, I have a question! A fellow preacher friend of mine had a conversation with the Co-Pastor of her church. During their conversation about "manicures", she (this fellow preacher) called her Co-Pastor by her first name. The Co-Pastor got 'indignant' about being called by her name instead of 'co-pastor'. The Co-Pastor when on to say "if you can't respect me by calling me "Pastor", "Co-Pastor", or "Woman of God", you need to find ANOTHER COVERING. I understand about titles and position, but was this reaction taken too far??? I welcome all thoughts!

1.Then Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples:
2."The teachers of the law and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat.
3.So you must obey them and do everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach.
4.They tie up heavy loads and put them on men's shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to lift a finger to move them.
5."Everything they do is done for men to see: They make their phylacteries wide and the tassels on their garments long;
6.they love the place of honor at banquets and the most important seats in the synagogues;
7.they love to be greeted in the marketplaces and to have men call them 'Rabbi.'
8."But you are not to be called 'Rabbi,' for you have only one Master and you are all brothers.
9.And do not call anyone on earth 'father,' for you have one Father, and he is in heaven.
10.Nor are you to be called 'teacher,' for you have one Teacher, the Christ.
11.The greatest among you will be your servant. (Matt 23:1-11)

I agree that this went too far. My goodness no one wants to take away any respect, or anything that a person feels they have earned (by way of position). I don’t think that the person meant any disrespect. Why must one be so involved in one’s self that it comes to?

“you need to find ANOTHER COVERING”

My goodness! How about this “Listen, I know you feel comfortable around me but I’d prefer being addressed by office, thanks”. How about this, how bout, we put emphasis on what we do for Christ instead of who we think we are. Ask the very important CO-PASTOR the next time she gets her nails done to consider the work of her hands to the glory of God, more that the title she carries. Now having said that, I would never called my Pastor by her first name because she is due the honor, not because she thinks she is...she just is.!!
