Bro. Sibley,

You seem to post the same response each time I post this information. So, in advance, I am providing you the same information from the previous two times that I've posted information.

Bishop Sibley,

I do appreciate you asking this question. You are right in saying that prophets are a "God thing" in the fact that they are chosen by God. In other words, no one that IS NOT a prophet (called by God) can be "taught" how to be a prophet. This gift was granted before we were formed in our mother's womb and before the foundation of the earth.

However, most (but not all) prophets received special training. The school of the prophets was first instituted by Samuel. 1 Samuel 19 tells us that It was located during the early years at Ramah 1 Samuel 19:19,20. Later schools were established at Bethel, Jericho, Gilgal, and elsewhere 2 Kings 2:3,5. The schools attracted students of the word who were given formal training in the law and its interpretation. They were led by an elderly prophet called Master. This is where the term the sons of the prophets comes from. 1 Sam. 10:12; 2 Kings 2:3.

In other words, when we say "School of the Prophets" this does not mean that this is a school to manufacture prophets. But simply a place of learning to study the scriptural functions of those who already acknowledge their call (by God) to function in this capacity.

I do hope this helps.

Blessings be unto you,
Adrienne
