On this Sunday, January 10, I will be facilitating an intercessory prayer session during which time we will be strictly praying for pastors. It is no secret that our churches are in trouble. We've been hearing that for years! We are in a season where sheep have been hurt, wounded, abused, misled and are now "wandering" aimlessly due to lack of leadership from their shepherds. A portion of the reason that our churches have been in the state of existence that they have been in is because of the irresponsibility of the shepherds in fulfilling their God ordained and God commissioned duties to God himself and then to the body of Christ.

As I was meditating on yesterday (Tuesday, January 5, 2010), God led me to the following scripture in the book of Ezekiel:

It is written, "1 The word of the LORD came to me: 2 "Son of man, prophesy against the shepherds of Israel; prophesy and say to them: 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says: Woe to the shepherds of Israel who only take care of themselves! Should not shepherds take care of the flock? 3 You eat the curds, clothe yourselves with the wool and slaughter the choice animals, but you do not take care of the flock. 4 You have not strengthened the weak or healed the sick or bound up the injured. You have not brought back the strays or searched for the lost. You have ruled them harshly and brutally. 5 So they were scattered because there was no shepherd, and when they were scattered they became food for all the wild animals. 6 My sheep wandered over all the mountains and on every high hill. They were scattered over the whole earth, and no one searched or looked for them.

7 " 'Therefore, you shepherds, hear the word of the LORD : 8 As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign LORD, because my flock lacks a shepherd and so has been plundered and has become food for all the wild animals, and because my shepherds did not search for my flock but cared for themselves rather than for my flock, 9 therefore, O shepherds, hear the word of the LORD : 10 This is what the Sovereign LORD says: I am against the shepherds and will hold them accountable for my flock. I will remove them from tending the flock so that the shepherds can no longer feed themselves. I will rescue my flock from their mouths, and it will no longer be food for them.

11 " 'For this is what the Sovereign LORD says: I myself will search for my sheep and look after them. 12 As a shepherd looks after his scattered flock when he is with them, so will I look after my sheep. I will rescue them from all the places where they were scattered on a day of clouds and darkness. 13 I will bring them out from the nations and gather them from the countries, and I will bring them into their own land. I will pasture them on the mountains of Israel, in the ravines and in all the settlements in the land. 14 I will tend them in a good pasture, and the mountain heights of Israel will be their grazing land. There they will lie down in good grazing land, and there they will feed in a rich pasture on the mountains of Israel. 15 I myself will tend my sheep and have them lie down, declares the Sovereign LORD. 16 I will search for the lost and bring back the strays. I will bind up the injured and strengthen the weak, but the sleek and the strong I will destroy. I will shepherd the flock with justice." (Ezekiel 34:1-16 NIV)

Please understand that we do realize that there are indeed a remnant of pastors out there who DO have a shepherd's heart and we continue to thank God for them and their commitment to God and to the call upon their lives! We will continue to cover them in prayer. However, this particular prayer session that we will convene on Sunday is to intercede on behalf of those pastors who have not yet chosen to acknowledge their corrupt actions nor have they chosen to repent for the error of their ways. There are pastors in the body of Christ today who are "preying" NOT "praying" on the body of Christ and taking advantage of the areas of vulnerability in the sheep's lives which is in turn leading the sheep back into a life of sin as opposed to leading them out! GOD HAVE MERCY ON US ALL!

Not only will we be praying for those pastors who have "lost sight" of the vision that God gave them in the body of Christ, but we will also be praying for those who have gone in to "confide" in their pastors but MAY NOT have had the best intentions when they went in!

There are people who do go in to counsel with their pastors because they do GENUINELY need Godly counsel and guidance. But equally so, we do also have women and men of God who target pastors for various ungodly reasons. Time and time again I have heard of incidents where persons are scheduling appointments to "counsel" with their pastors only to use that opportunity as a time to open a demonic gate to a world of lust, adultery and sexual sin. And while our pastors should be readily able to identify and avoid the "trap" being set before them, we do still have many pastors who have not been fully walking in deliverance in many areas in their personal lives and they are still walking FREELY through these demonic gates!

People of God, intercession is a powerful weapon and NOW is the time for us to pray like never before for those who are currently pastoring in the body of Christ. While we all do fully understand the WE ALL need prayer, there is a sense of urgency RIGHT NOW to pray for pastors that they may come to a place of repentance and restoration.

I ask and encourage each of you to remain prayerful and consider dialing in to join us for this time of intercession.

(PLEASE NOTE: The teleconference session on Sunday WILL NOT be a discussion session to bash pastors! This will be strictly a time of intercession on their behalves. We should love our brothers and sisters in Christ enough to not want to see them remain in sin but rather repent and be restored.)

Fasting Instructions:

Beginning today (Wednesday, January 6, 2010) until Sunday, January 10, I will be fasting for pastors in the body of Christ. To those of you who feel led by God to join with me in fasting over these next 5 days, I do encourage and welcome you to do so! Please seek God individually as to what type fast He would have you to complete during this time.

Blessings be unto each of you,
