Psalm 107:27-29} They reel to and fro and stagger like a drunken man and are at their wits end (all their wisdom has come to nothing). Then they cry to the Lord in their trouble, and He brings them out of their distresses. He hushes the storm to a calm and to a gentle whisper, so that the waves of the sea are still.

I don't know if you sense this or not, but lately I sense a change in the atmosphere. God is doing something new and something wonderful. More and more He has tugged on my heart to spend more quality time with Him and to begin each and every day getting into His Word and His presence. What is so amazing to me, and it shouldn't be really, is that my days go so wonderfully well when I take that quality time to be with Him. I too have struggled to get into that word more than I should. But lately I have really had an urgency in my spirit to do just that. I have also found that the more I seek my God, the more I have favor with Him and with men.

The storms these days seem to be raging all around us, and they are! Satan has stepped up his attack. Oh but for God, our Rock and Protector! Greater is He that is in us than he that is of the world! So many of us react too quickly through our emotions, words, thoughts or even deeds when the storms swirl around us. We allow our emotions and thoughts to overtake us and go to places they should not go. Then we end up doing or saying things we end up regretting. We have to do what Jesus did when He was in the boat with the disciples and a storm was swirling all around them. We have to take a step back, take a deep breath, and get into God's word and presence and let Him calm down the turmoil within us and around us. Too often we get in His way of what He wants to do by trying to remedy the situations ourselves. We react quickly and often times make things worse than they are. And believe me I'm speaking from experience here. I'm still a work in progress, thank God! I think most of us have gotten into some sticky situations and made mountains out of molehills instead of casting all our cares on Him.

He is the only One who can calm every storm that comes our way. He is the only One who will turn everything that was meant for evil to the good for those of us who love Him. He is the only One who can destroy every plan of attack that Satan has against us. He is the only One who will make sure that no weapons formed against us will prosper but be cast down. And He is the only One who can provide all our needs, even our heart's desires! So what is God trying to tell us through all this? Relax! Quit worrying! Learn to crucify your flesh! Spend more time getting to know Me than worrying about situations you can do nothing about! Seek Me FIRST and THEN all things will be added to you. When we see storms approaching there is no better way to stay ahead of them than to get into God's Word and His presence. We need to praise and worship so that God's blessings and miracles will come down. Our praises go up and His power comes down! God desires to bring us to a place where no matter what comes we can BE STILL AND KNOW THAT HE IS GOD. If we don't know that yet, then we have been very lazy in working on our relationship with Him. And present company included. But I'm working on that more and more every day.

I have disciplined myself every day upon waking up to spend quality time with God and in His word. And I can tell you with full assurance that the blessings have been overtaking me these days. God has done over and above what I even expected. Also being obedient to do the things He has called me to do doesn't hurt either. If we desire to stay ahead of the storms, if we desire to be overtaken with God's blessings and favor, then we need to discipline ourselves each and every day to spend quality time with our precious Savior. We need to stop serving this world, stop feeding the impulses and lusts of this flesh and start looking to our God and His Word and working for His kingdom. God is preparing us for something glorious that is about to take place. Are you ready? Don't answer too quickly. Do a heart search and see what things have taken first place in your life over God. Let's put Him first from this day on and be ready to have your arms wide open for the blessings He is about to overtake His faithful and obedient people with. Get connected with the Body of Christ and quit procrastinating. God will use only those whom He can trust. Can He trust you? Have you been faithful? Time is short! Be alert, be prepared! God bless you, I love you, but Jesus loves you so much more than I ever could.
