Thanks-Giving...Etymologically

A look at the word THANKSGIVING and a peculiar and exhilarating revelation unfolds. The word incorporates a very innately Christian principle as pertains to giving that sometimes is missed. Most of us realize the obvious meaning. Giving God thanks and being appreciative for His manifold blessings in our lives (particularly that turkey and dressing;) The other meaning is just as much a blessing. The fact that GIVING is a privilege that we should indeed thank God for. It's the humble picture of honoring God and others with a malleable heart of thankfulness...FOR THE OPPORTUNITY TO GIVE!

Giving is a powerful institution. It is the foundation of being a stable, creditless society. It is the means by which the poor are not neglected and the rich are not engorged. Giving is the point at which the heart of God and the heart of man can substantially meet. The essence of Jesus' sacrifice on the Cross at Calvary for mankind is rooted in giving, FOR GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD THAT HE GAVE...

So as we enter into the most profitable season in the world for retail. As we embark on a time of the year when gluttony or over-receiving is at is climax, please do not forget the pleasure and privilege of GIVING.
